  1. Undoubtedly true in our heyday.
  2. The flip side is other players being all too ready to give him the ball when he is not in any better position than they are - Henderson is guilty of this a lot in the current side.
  3. I wonder if he has the right temperament for management too.
  4. This aspect of his coaching - his ability to get Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling to combine together so well without limiting any of them - doesn't get enough credit. You hear a lot of "any manager" would have done well with those three but many managers wouldnt have played all three together or at least restricted Sturridge and Sterling to wide roles with defensive briefs.
  5. Wouldn't mind seeing this outfield 10 being given a try at some point. (I will accept arguments for Lucas in place of Allen). Toure Lovren Sakho Sterling Gerrard Allen Markovic Coutinho Lallana Sturridge
  6. This is the same Paisley that had a 35 year old Ian Callaghan and a 32 year old Tommy Smith playing in our first European Cup final. It all depended on the individual. Gerrard showed last season he still has something to offer.
  7. Johnson is in theory another option for RCB but my guess is that he isn't going to be offered a new contract on terms he will accept (i.e. a big pay-cut). How has Wisdom fared at West Brom?
  8. Perhaps although he looks more comfortable as one of the flank defenders in the back three now that his athleticism is on the wane.
  9. It will be interesting to see what Rodgers does when he has Sturridge available. Reckon he may stick with his "box midfield" (to use his terminology from the other day) ahead of a back three given it has seen us recover some of our verve from last season. Sterling, Coutinho, Lallana and Markovic are all options for the two attacking midfielders and we have Gerrard, Lucas, Allen and Can for the two sitting midfielders. Henderson has the legs for RWB role (it would be a waste to use Sterling there although I'm sure he could do it) and you'd imagine Rodgers will try Moreno out at LWB again at some point.
  10. That's a shocker. Wenger will be worried about Sterling up against Mertesacker so you moved Gerrard to play up against him instead.
  11. He showed bursts of acceleraion in the 1st half home to Villa but then went into his shell.
  12. That's certainly not true on here. As for the committee, there was a suggestion in the media that Rodgers wanted him but was overruled due the cost involved.
  13. On the committee or on here?
  14. Much better from him in the 1st half at Old Trafford and last night. Shows the difference having a penetrating striker makes to the side. The summer all comes back to the Balotelli signing. If we'd coughed up a bit more for Bony instead I'm pretty sure we'd still be in the Champions League and be more handily placed to ensure qualifying again next season. Talk about false economy.
  15. He came the closest by far of all our managers (Rafa included) since 1990 to winning the league. That entitles him to a bit of leeway in my book.
  16. He is a pretty ordinary footballer with a very good engine. When more gifted players around him are on form the he is a useful cog but that's all.
  17. Henderson as captain of Liverpool doesn't sit right.
  18. Mignolet needs to come back for this.
  19. I agree. We pass the ball through midfield better when he is in the side. He also plays his part when we try for a pressing game. Its not eye-catching stuff admittedly but it makes us a better team. Clearly, the biggest issue he faces is his lack of power. However, if he is on top of his game in terms of concentration and sharp with his touch/releasing the ball, then he can still contribute in midfield.
  20. He showed his ambition there. Happy to sit in the bench.
  21. I can't see the point of dropping Mignolet for Jones. For all his faults, he is still a fair better keeper than Jones.
  22. Absolutely - we were very adept for years at lowering our game when we went to Old Trafford.
  23. I have but not away from Anfield.
  24. The team that thumped Utd 3-0 was: Mignolet Johnson Skrtel Agger Flanagan Gerrard Henderson Allen Sterling Sturridge Suarez I make that 5 out of 11 players in common
