We tend to judge player talent in the context of seeing them in our own domestic league which is almost certainly the toughest, and may be beyond their ability, but the different standards and style in some European leagues may see them flourish. McTominay for example, but that is almost certainly down to mismanagement as well.

Wouldn’t surprise me now if this is the squad for the season. Very disappointing if it is as we’ve broken transfers records, bought some expensive players, but are somehow weaker than last season. Absolutely threadbare upfront, and a not much off the bench. makes you think there must be a plan, but history tells us we’ve gone into seasons with an inadequate squad plenty of times previously. Started the summer looking like a 10/10 of 10/10 window currently looks a 5/10.
