To top his lack of awareness and touch he has no pace. Its becoming increasingly important in the EPL to have an abundance of pace and at least some skill to become a good forward. Defenders have become more athletic and will always cover the snail paced strikers like Kuyt well. I cant see him ever being the prolific scorer he was in the Dutch league for the reason above. To ask him to lead the line is to up the 'frustrationometer' of anyone associated with the club. The sooner we recoup the better.

Fair point. At times its frustrating when he looks like the only threat (like last night) and he's taken off early. We needed pace playing against 10 men. As you say hopefully some of us will applaud the strategy with time.

Only thing he's developing is blisters while polishing the bench. Every week we talk of him not playing full 90s because he will "likely start next game" and never does. Carling cup was perfect stage to give him 90 and keep learning his trade.
