  1. Aye, sponsorshop of Arsenal to be withdrawn and them left without a pot to piss in.
  2. With the possible exception of Mrs Is-she-or-isn't-she Crouch.
  3. Right. Nobody else is asking, but I am. Explain.
  4. "So, what attracted you to millionaire footballer Xabi Alonso?"
  5. To be hoenst, I agree with all that, but I'm forcing my self to give him a chance at least until January when we might be able to replace him.
  6. Who are the other two? One is Mrs Luis, right? The one in the orange?
  7. How about "He lacks drive"?
  8. I think he is good enough, in terms of ability. Technically, he's excellent - his touch, his feet, all great. He can cross, he can beat a man, there's pace, it's all there. "Bottle" is exactly the right word, though.
  9. Hasn't always been a self-propagating elite liek there is now, though - the champion's league means that the same three or four teams every year get the extra cash, and the gap between them and the others widens every year. Before, you had to win the league to get into Europe, so to pull away from the rest required an extraordinary level of consistency, the cash was pread around a little more. Football, like it or not, has become haves and have nots. If we want success, we have to be one of the haves.
  10. I've searched Google to the absolute limit of being fired to no avail. She's SO classy, she's not even on the internet.
  11. I've seen a pic. She's proper stunning.
  12. You could say the same thing about the Champion's League - that money created an elite upper-class of clubs, who were raking in a fortune over and above the other theams in their league, and getting further and further ahead every year. Nowadays we're (finally) a part of that elite, and nobody's complaining. In fact, we'd whinge if we were outside of that elite for a season. Investment is just another rung on the same ladder.
  13. You clearly don't have the same level of...er....respect...ahem...for Xabi that I do.
  14. ....but Xabi's DEFFO top of my "if I was" list. "Since I've been in Liverpool, one of the things I've noticed most is how much the club and people respect and realise the importance of their traditions.......It's clear investment will bring a lot of good things to Liverpool, but I'm sure the new people will also recognise the good things at the club which we already have which don't need to change so much." Echo Link
  15. I think we know enough of Moores and Benitez to beleive that they'll be doing things without anything like the level of avarice and c***ery displayed by that other lot. Or Chelsea.
  16. IF money's equal, the only reason you'd choose Chelsea is to live in London. With Sol Campbell. In his flat. With the curtains drawn and the lights dimmed.
  17. Someone's been putting goofballs in Johnny's burgers.
  18. My big problem with Pennant is the "I'm happy with my form, the manager is happy" interview - reminded me alltoghether too much of a certain ex-striker's "Why would I need to score more goals, the manager is happy with me?"
  19. Maybe he's a Liverpool player after all.
  20. ...I though tBellamy worked his a*** off. Looked our most likey outlet to equalise too, before he went off. Beautiful ball for Fowler's goal too - more encouraging signs from the lad. As for Pennant, I've been on his back loads (as have most people), but his burst of pace and cross for the second was lovely. Further evidence that he does have plenty of ability, just his heart that's suspect, really. Hopefully he'll start to show it a bit more regularly.
  21. I don;t think we'll be the sheik's plaything though, Kev. We'll be expected to be self-financing. And not Peter Kenyon-style wings-of-bacon glaciers-of-hades self-financing.
  22. Stephen Hawking has better reflexes than Kirkland.
  23. Definitely. Way more short term injuries, and loads more long term ones.
  24. Dount we'd offer him two million quid a year in wages in the hope that we might recoup a million quid selling him.
  25. He's debating whether to accept, wants to play, naturally. Where does that leave Carson, I wonder? I can't see him coming back if Dudek is still here as No. 2.
