Gerrard got nutmegged by the Andorran captain ......
-
He did have a go at Merson along the lines of what someone posted, he also used the words 'You should show some respect to a club like Liverpool' that is not verbatim, but it was along those lines... I have no opinion on the man as a pundit... he was a great footballer for us, was club captain and always gave his all... injury robbed us of what would have been one of the finest midfielders of his generation...

They could well be.... I've just got back from India and Adidas sponsor the Outdoor Hockey League out there and are official kit makers... all their kits look like that in different colours... with the wavy line running over the main shirt in exactly the same way.. like someone said, probably not the finished article but damn near close...

According to one of the sundays whoever reaches the final will only be allocated 16,000 tickets each.. with 9,000 being allocated thru a Uefa ballot recently apparently the other 27,000 odd go the Uefa family????? IF we get there, it is going to be an almighty scramble as apparently it is now only configured to seat 69,000 even though the record attendance at the stadium is 74,000 but pre 2004.... in Istanbul it seated 80,000!!! I qualified for my Istanbul ticket on 6 CL games... doesn't look like thats going to happen... black market, a week in the sun and on the piss and about £2000 in readies just in case me thinks....

I thought it would be the third as last time the games were played in the order they were pulled out the hat... Just one more thing.. anyone got any spares???
-
My thoughts exactly.. are we playing tue 3rd or wed 4th??
-
Not true, they didn't go on sale online until 8.30am... I was on there at 8.10am and you couldn't buy one unless you were a ST holder with 3 credits or whatever it was... About 8.15am the barca match vanished from the screen and reappeared at about 8.30am at which point I got my 4 in 102!!!

I'm not too sure on that.. from the way they kept saying 'Rick, Rafa and their team' it sounded as though they may bring in their own man, team, to take care of the marketing side and leave Rick to work with Rafa in identifying players, negotiating transfers etc.... who else are some on here going to be pisshed with when he is playing cricket in the Windies while europes top clubs are snapping up the best players

Radio One also stated in their last bulletin that a board meeting is taking place right now to finalise the whole thing before an announcement at some point today.... don't you love the new world media day and age we live in.... drip... drip... drip.... (no chance of getting any work done today!!)

Took me about 35 mins of clicking to get on... there were still most stands left.. it's just a pain getting on the server... as for the amount of tickets i'm pretty sure the club can't do that as PTS is advertised as 5000 tickets per game with 10,000 members eligible...

Mancs, Villa now us.... this of course was all foretold in a Budweiser commercial a couple of years ago.. they lulled us into a false sense of security with the ' You do the football, we'll do the beer...' We should have been wiser because everyone knows american beer is pisssh

So says Parry on Radio five on Sunday morning..... and I didn't realise before but it seems as though Rafa was closer to moving to Madrid than some of us may have previously imagined... Takeover of Liverpool 'imminent' Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry says he expects the club's takeover by Dubai International Capital to be completed "relatively quickly". "A huge amount of work has been going on, we'll have something to say soon," he told BBC Five Live's Sportsweek. "Yes, the deal is looking positive and yes, I'm confident it will go through. This will take us to the next level. "But it's not a quick fix, a rich man's plaything. It's a long-term model for success, based around the new stadium." DIC, the investment arm of Dubai's government, has been in talks with the Anfield club for the past six weeks about a possible buy-out. We may sign players before the transfer window shuts. We are working hard on a few things Chief executive Rick Parry Parry says the time the group has spent at the club has been beneficial to both parties. "Over the past month or so they have had a team of people here, working around the clock," added Parry. "They have been on a real learning curve because football is slightly different to the other businesses they might be involved in. "It helps that most of the key people we've been dealing with are Liverpool supporters so they know what we're all about. "It's now a case of finalising the due diligence and pulling everything together, which we hope will be completed relatively quickly." Meanwhile, Parry says Liverpool are in talks about adding to their squad in the January transfer window after two humiliating cup defeats by Arsenal last week. "You have to have priorities and ours are to invest in the first team, which we have done with substantial sums in the past three years," said Parry. "We may sign players before the transfer widow shuts. "We are working hard on a few things at the moment and we will reveal everything once it is all sorted out." Parry also confirmed that manager Rafael Benitez turned down the chance to join Real Madrid last summer because of his commitment to the Reds. "In the summer Rafa rejected the chance to move to Real, which was a big, big temptation for him," revealed Parry. "It was all pretty serious. Real is his club, he was there as a player and as a coach too and it would always be an opportunity he would have to consider. "But he enjoys being at Liverpool and he believed in the direction we are taking and he is passionate about that too."

Unless we get to the League Cup Final then the manc game is postponed and we play on the 4th!!! hopefully against the chavs

I think everything points to this deal being very close, it suits Moores and Parry as they get to stay with the club they love, Moores as has been mentioned would not take the money and run as he is a supporter like all of us first and foremost.... the fact that there is so much in the public domain points to the fact that we are nearly there, our club doesn't release any info until it has to (apart from the ambush of Parry by the Thai govt we were treated to a couple of years ago)... the public show of support from the Arabs at the ground yesterday was another pointer and all the rhetoric doing the rounds about how they know our traditions and will uphold them and won't turn us into a greedy, snivelling puss on the face of football smacks of great PR and getting us all on side. Also Rafa's remarks in the last few days about his conversations with Moores and Parry and things looking good and how he has two transfer target lists really do point to this being very very far down the road... for me personally, I would be elated if this came to pass, we would have wealthy owners who have a proven track record (from all accounts) of running successfull sports and leisure business'... they understand our club, what it means to us, they understand our history and most importantly they won't act like pimps on crack 'buying up' the best talent regardless of whether they need it or not.... how many times have we heard 'through hard work' in all these media sound bites and articles? whats just as important for me is that Moores and Parry will stay with the club, Parry in his day to day role, and lets face it this coup is as large as his snagging off Rafa when people where slagging him off for playing cricket in Barbados when we were managerless.... Moores is as big a fan as any of us and to see him get an honorary position just reeks of class on the Arabs side.....and I for one welcome it and if rumours are to be believed and they bring back the King in some kind of ambassodorial capacity well I'll just roll over and die happy right now... as for transfers, I am glad that what will happen for example is instead of looking at the Pennants (no offence to the lad as he had a great game yesterday , and I want him to succeed just as much as the next man, but we all know he wasn't our number one target) we can get Alves, in other words, we get proven talent that will enhance our squad not the hollywood signings of the nouveau riche from the kings road.... i'm slightly old school, my first memories of supporting the reds were of uncle bob's team, i was just too young and missed Shanks era, but when i think about this buy out, the people looking to come on board and the way they are conducting themselves I ask myself if men like Bob Paisley, Bill Shankley and Peter Robinson would approve.... and I keep coming back with a heart warming and resounding YES! I don't think any other club could handle or conduct a takeover like this, we just know how to do things.... I, like many other reds in here am positive, but only time will tell........

I'm assuming Carlsberg contract will now not be renewed (if it was ever going to be) but for gods and allahs sake please don't let them put 'DIC' across our shirt.....

I'm an OOTer, and I have supported the club all my life, I live in birmingham for my sins, and I fell in love with the reds the day my old man took me to the hawthorns in the old division one and we put five past them... I can remember Rush, Wark and the King scoring.... my dad is a baggies fan, but the day he took me to that match he lit a fire in me.... I have a PTS tickets thingy, I get to as many league games as possible, I sit in traffic up and down the M6, I never miss a CL match, I love meeting people from other countries on european nights in the pub, sharing stories and songs and enjoying the fact that 9 out of 10 of them all respect our club.....I spent a week in Istanbul with my brother in law in what I describe as the greatest moment of my life so far, standing on my seat in the attaturk watching the penalties, holding up the old fella's behind me as they went in one by one, telling the old scouser behind me he was right when he told me 'to just believe' at half time.... I love sitting in the Kop, I love sitting anywhere at Anfield, I am proud to have brought, friends, nephews and neices to Anfield for their first visits and seen how they fall in love with the place and the special feeling it creates.... I loved smacking my best mate round the head when he joined in the 'easy easy chant' against Reading last week.... I lived and worked abroad in Toronto for 6 years and I couldn't wait to get back because I needed my fix of the reds every living breathing moment... I sing myself hoarse at games, (admittedly I do occasionally wear a white long sleeve sweater or hoody under my shirt in the deep dark days of winter.. well no ones perfect ).. if I buy anything to do with Liverpool I do it from an official source as it gives me a feeling of contribution to our institution.... I drink at the Arkles before games, I've made friends in that place for life, Paddy at the door (who let me in past a line of soaking wet Chavs in last seasons CL game), Beryl and Theresa behind the bar (who always pour me a drink regardless of how busy it is)... I'm of Indian origin and the only colour i've ever been seen as is Red, i'm proud that we have fans who show tolerance regardless of colour, creed or religious beliefs... I get intimidated by 'locals' I do feel awkward sometimes because i'm not 'one of them' .... but I never feel like I don't belong, I always feel Red, Rafa said something when he first came that struck a chord for me... he said in Spain they have a saying 'That you feel the colours of your club...' I have never forgtotten that and I know what he mean't.. I carry myself in a certain way in my life, I try to respect people, show them courtesy, I never gloat to other supporters (living amongst Villa fans this past month has been tough, but I have the same smile on my face this week as I did when they were telling me how they were going to trash us) I thank God that Mourinho didn't happen to us as he is the antithesis of everything that is our club, our values, what we stand for demonstrated so well again this week as we parted company with mr white, while Mourinho slid along the touchline in the Camp Nou like a 17 yr old boy band member... I wish every match at Anfield was like a european night, I hear stories about how it used to be every saturday afternoon, men heavy on ale and loud on lungs... I know what it was like because I see and feel that atmosphere when we go away from home, lads all bevvied up, singing, stuttering, slurring.. the young fella who spent the second half with his head rested on my shoulders at the hawthorns last season, too pissed to hear the first and last whistle... good times, people talk about the Istanbul spirit, well it is there in bundles when we play away, I don't give a feck who looks at me strange at Anfield as i'm joining in the singing, you choose to support your club in your way, I choose to support mine in mine.... Yes there is a new breed of football fan, the soccer am-erites, the sky tv generation who have never heard of division 4, don't know why there is 1,2 or 3 on the football scores, think that winning a premiership means more than winning Div 1, that it has greater value because Sky don't talk about the other one (funny how they always show 80's clips in 'grainy colour' to remind us of when Liverpool were great) who think we hate the mancs because they have had more 'proper TV premiership wins' than us... I actually don't know why I wrote all that and realise it has nothing to do with this thread...

with the loyalty scheme in place hopefully the mad rush will be over as well as only those with the gala game on their fc will be entitled to tickets.... should be a tad more civilised, at least thats what i'm hoping for

wasn't really my point RP as I don't know the discussion you talk of nor do I have any interest in it, it was just a flippant throw away remark......anyway, if anyone is interested you can fly with flybe from Norwich direct to Bordeaux on Tuesday , returning on thursday for £86 return... i'll be reverting to type and will be the miserable one at the back cursing discount airlines for raising their prices and making me travel to tractorville just to get on a plane....

I bought some new bands before the spurs game... as I had some from the original batch as well, I was surprised to see that the new bands (version 2) were orange.... does anyone know why? is it to distinguish them from the 'official' one being sold at the club? or by scammers outside the ground? just a question really...
