  1. Difference is, Gerrard knew he was likely to win trophies here, especially after Istanbul, and especially with Rafa in charge, and was pretty much guaranteed CL football every season.
  2. So thats shirt numbers 9, 10 and 11 up for grabs ...
  3. I agree, though I think that too many so called big name players competing for such few first team places could create problems. Then again, Rafa is not one to mess with, so I guess any player not towing the party line will be quickly shown the door.
  4. Atletico signing both Forlan and Luis must mean they are preparing for life without Torres. Gutted Luis is going. As been said, though, its probably more down to him wanting to return to Spain than Rafa wanting rid.
  5. Thing is, if we get two new wingers in, of the Malouda/Mancini/Simao level, they'd expect to play regularly, so where would this leave Kewell and the improving Pennant? A big squad is nice, but too many big name players on the bench could create unrest. And that is without going into the financial side of things, i.e. bringing in players on big transfer fees and on big wages who would not necessarily be considered automatic starters.
  6. Doesn't he play predominantly on the right? Cracking player.
  7. Aimar is a great player, but I think that boat has sailed. If Rafa really wanted him, he would have made a move when Valencia agreed to sell him.
  8. This is a joke, right?
  9. Sorry to be pedantic Dalglish, but the quote in your signature should be attributed to Shankly not Paisley.
  10. Milito is a very good striker, an excellent finisher. More importantly, he is at the top of his game, so in this regard, it doesn't matter how old he is, not that 28 should be considered old. I have a feeling that this link is serious, and that the deal should be concluded soon.
  11. Surely that's the Fat One in one of his many disguises. Nonetheless, would not be unhappy with that, especially with D Milito.
  12. In that case Elisha should come out and settle this debate once and for all.
  13. Don't want Benayoun. Good player, but not good enough. Not really a winger either.
  14. Gaillard is a t***, and so is Platini. Fact.
  15. So its Brazil's young player of the year, Portugal's player of the year, and France's player of the year. Hmmmmm ...
  16. Do you people really want us to sign all our targets at the beginning of June? If that should happen, what will we have to talk about for the rest of the summer? Just think how boring this place would be ...
  17. I really don't understand this move by Juve. Surely they could have come up with someone better.
  18. It would be a real shame to let Alonso go, I'd rather we let Momo go, but then it depends on what Alonso himself wants. I know its early days, but I think its important for the club to sign most of Rafa's targets asap. It will help create stability, will appease Rafa, as well as the obvious advantages of having the new signings in before pre-season starts.
  19. That's what I was thinking. Spot on.
  20. Me too. Add to those two a quality forward - Tevez preferably - and I'll be one happy puppy.
