  1. Bolo : "Best get some practice in for the next karaoke, Mark, because there's no way I'm refusing to get up to sing".
  2. we got a Manc to say some nice things about us.....let's not push it too far for one night, eh just don't anyone start reciprocating the nice gestures.

  4. All in all, Lille Football Club's behaviour tonight was nothing short of despicable and no punishment will be too small for them.
  5. Tony Barton....but he doesn't count as he only took over after the Quarte Final or something cos Ron Saunders quit. the perfect retort
  6. I saw efcrmagic lurking before you posted the Jock Stein picture. I think he was expecting Howard Kendall
  7. I think us on here are entitled to think of him as the most successful in England : Honours: First Division champions 1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983 League cup winners 1981, 1982, 1983 European cup winners 1977, 1978, 1981 UEFA cup winners 1976 We probably grapple with whether he was better than Shankly ourselves. The fact that you want to put your two up there is perfectly understandable, and Forest will always argue that Clough was, but it's not an argument that I'm going to get into. PS : For the ManU fans, the First Division was the top division before 1993 ;-)
  8. Don't be spoiling my point by bringing facts into this . This is a Champions League discussion thread 1974 to 1983. Age was the main reason he retired. He stayed on in a supportive role with Fagan & Kenny's first season or two. He didn't want the job in the first place, so staying 10 seasons wasn't bad.
  9. And the amount of money spent on players, the size of the squad available, the ratio of trophies to number of years spent in the job.
  10. Yeah.....that and Fat Frank's penchant for sticking his tongue out one side of his mouth are both legitimate reasons to go up & give them a slap in my book. The thing the referee did (or didn't do) tonight that annoyed me was his failure to book Scholes. He committed 3 clearly bookable fouls tonight, yet escaped even one. Surprisingly enough he would have missed the second leg if he had have been booked. Perhaps the way to take a quick free kick wasn't the only thing discussed with the referee beforehand.
  11. Waterford confirmed as Shelbourne's Premier League replacements. Colin Healy confirmed as having signed for Cork City.
  12. That was hilarious....and his glasses were crooked as well. He looked & sounded a total t***. The disallowed goal was the correct decision i.m.o. The authorities really need to tidy up the quick free kick situation though. They either give goalkeepers the time to organise a wall or they don't in ALL such situations. Doing it one way on one day and a different way on another day just leads to situations like tonight.
  13. Chief amongst them being getting involved with the mess that is currently the Republic of Ireland football set up
  14. It is a source of great satisfaction to me that Djimi Traore has more Champions League medals than the combined total that Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona & Roy Keane possess

  16. Agreed. A comprehensive lesson on pre-Premiership years for those who don't remember, or who don't want to remember. Some of the football we played in that game was superb. Could have been 7 or 8 only for a few dodgy offsides & a (thin) Neville Southall who was in fantastic form. Some of the fat arses on display is hilarious too....the shorts didn't do some of them any favours.
  17. I think the Mods should introduce a golf-club wielding smilie face and encourage liberal use of it on this thread
  18. It was Niall Quinn when they were at City. All started when they both donned a pair of boxing gloves and went into an idle boxing ring. Quinn decked him and it all took off from there :-)
  19. please please lord let it stop !
  20. Expect that by next Sunday, the papers will have added this + last week's shenanigans in the Algarve coming up (again) with Rafa being favourite for being the next Real manager : http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/europe/6377257.stm
  21. Judging by his physique when he came on as sub for Preston at the week-end, throwing in a few pounds of Clonakilty black pudding & a keg of Murphys as part of his signing on fee could well sway the deal for City.
  22. Ch 442 on SKY 10pm-10.30pm a profile on Rushie. 10.30pm-11pm - Everton 0 Liverpool 5 from 1982
  23. I really hope Man City win the cup.
  24. Middlesbrough or West Brom v Manchester United or Reading Arsenal or Blackburn v Manchester City Chelsea v Tottenham Plymouth v Watford
