Mentioned that I'd like to see a 4-5-1 formation in another thread and personally I think it would work both home and away. The main issue for me is finding the right balance in midfield, IMO both Stevie and Xabi need to play the advanced roles with Momo as the sitter (Makalele role) of the inverted triangle. This would free up Stevie enabling him to make runs into the box and or shoot from a more central position, what he's best at. It would allow Xabi to push up, for me he he's at his best 35 yard out, and there aren't many better at breaking up play than Momo. I think it would also benefit our wide players as the oppo's defence would be more preoccupied with breaks from CM, Stevie and Xabi, resulting in them having more time and space..

Our forward line is more than capable of scoring, the problem is getting the ball into the right area for them to do so, so no I don't think getting rid of one of the best keepers around is a good idea..

Now that's another scenario altogether and I might have agreed with you at the time, but not now... BTW replace Gonzalez with Luis and I'd agree, hell you could even play Luis at RM if Pennant doesn't start showing..

At best he would be an improvement on Bolo I'll give you that but no more Its all if's and but's Kev, had Momo not been injured we wouldn't be having this discussion, if Pennant was on fire the decision would be simple move Gerrard back to the middle etc

I don't think he would be that much of an improvement on what we already have in fairness. Besides the earliest he could come in is January and fingers crossed Momo will be ready by February so what's the point in splashing out, say £5m, for what would effectively be a handful of games? If we are to sign another CM any time soon IMO it needs to be a creative player, we already have workhorses..

I know this is linked to Momo being out but what's the point in signing Nolan when we have Gerrard?
