Is he still here as a consultant? If so the board should listen to him only to do the opposite of everything he says or recommends.

Hopefully Roy won't be allowed any funding when the transfer window opens in January - the last thing we need is him going back in for the likes of Luke Young and Calrton Cole to join Poulsen and Konchesky to help shape his Royvalution. I used to think Konchesky was just average when he was Fulham and West Ham - it goes to show how wrong you can be when you don't see them play week in and out and all their mistakes and limitations.

Rafa's Inter play the marvellously named TP Mazembe Englebert on in the Final on Saturday - a 5.00pm kick off (UK time), and ESPN will be showing the game at 10pm at night. Good luck Rafa

^ thanks for the explanation Gerry - it's been a long time since I ordered anything from the club or online shops.

If the shirt was a 'mail order return' then why did it have a £54 price tag on it? Surely it should have have had the original £42 price tag? (as it was originally a blank shirt which had the printing added afterwards) (apologies if I've overlooked something)

I don't remember there being a credit crunch when they took over the club - nor can I remember a credit crunch within 60 days of them taking over which is when they claimed work was going to have started on the stadium. As for the claim by Gillet that the banks made him and Hicks arrange the finances like that - what has it got to do with them if, as claimed, no debt was going to be put on the club? (hence no loan required from any bank etc) More lies, mistruths and misdirection from the 'custodians' Well in to the SOS for calling Gillet on it. Keep up the great work!
-
The liverpool Supporters Union (SOS) represent it's members. They have the same right to voice their opinion as you do. So you can go kiss you own ass.
-
There was no credit crunch at the time the owners promised 'a spade in the ground within 60 days' - therefore they are liars.

AFC Liverpool 5 - 0 Darwen http://afcliverpool.org.uk/go/1st-team/afc...5-darwen-0.html "AFC Liverpool kicked off the league season in style with a 5-0 victory over Lancashire opponents Darwen FC. In an historic day for our new club, the weather was the only disappointment in a thrilling win. Martin Smeaton opened the scoring for the Reds on 20 minutes after some clever interplay. Darwen also put it into the net but the goal was disallowed for a foul on keeper Paul Willis. It was 1-0 at the break, but in true Liverpool style, the reds turned it on when kicking towards the Kop end. Two minutes into the second half Thurston was brought down by the Darwen keeper inside the area. Thurston took the penalty himself and converted comfortably. Shortly afterwards he was on the scoresheet once again to make it three. The reds had scores of chances. Kevin Poole came close, and Thurston almost bagged a hattrick with a fantastic glancing header that only just crept wide. It was Wignall who put AFC Liverpool 4-0 up, before substitute James Croxton bagged the fifth. Team Lineup: 1 Paul Willis 2 Andy Barlow 3 Martin Crowder 4 Mark Bloxham 5 Jay Chandler 6 James Dever © 7 Ryan Wignall 8 Ian Johnson 9 Martin Smeaton 10 Dean Thurston 11 Andy McCoy 12 Craig Cushion GK Terry McCormick 14 James Croxton 15 Kevin Poole 16 Ian Sheridan" AFC Liverpool's next game is an away league match vs Rochdale Town - on Saturday 16th August with a 3.00pm kick off.

not bad for an away mid-week pre-season friendly though Though will be interesting to see what the gate is for first home league game (vs Darwen on the Sat 9th Aug - 3pm ko) - and if they can mainitain and build on it. The superb http://www.tonykempster.co.uk website has the average attendance for the Vodkat One Lge last season as 67, with the Vodkat Prem getting an average gate of 95 - though am not sure just how 'accurate' the clubs ticket selling/attendance calcualtions are Average crowd in the Unibond Prem is 313, Blue Square North is 709, and the Blue Square Prem is 1,796. Away to Formby in a friendly game today - good luck AFC

Marine 2 AFC Liverpool 1 Published on July 23, 2008 http://afcliverpool.org.uk/go/1st-team/mar...iverpool-1.html "A game of two halves saw Marine emerge as narrow winners over AFC Liverpool, in the reds first ever Merseyside game. AFC Liverpool looked accomplished in the first half, and despite being three leagues below their Merseyside neighbours, were the better side. Midfield man Ian Johnson (pictured) put the reds into an early lead with a fine strike from distance on 7 minutes, beating the keeper comfortably at his left hand post. Marine came back, first with an effort that struck the bar, and then through a Peter Cumiskey goal in the 38th minute. Reds captain James Dever went close with a fine shot that was only a whisker over the bar. But at half time the sides went in level, with AFC Liverpool unfortunate not to be ahead given the passage of play. The second half was very much advantage to Marine. A Kevin Lynch goal two minutes after the interval put Marine ahead for the first time in the match, and the home side were much more comfortable from then on. Still the visitors looked to play their passing game, and created a number of creditable efforts on goal. A Smeaton header was saved by Sean Lake. A trademark Crowder dribble ended with a shot into the side netting. McCoy was only prevented from scoring by a fine Marine block. Yet the half belonged to Marine and ultimately so did the match. Reds fans will have been pleased enough with the result, but especially with the performance. The side’s reputation as an exciting, attacking, passing team builds with every game. Full line up: 1. Terry McCormick 2. Andy Barlow (Bkd 56) 3. Martin Crowder 4. Mark Bloxam 5. Jay Chandler 6. James Dever 7. Ryan Wignall 8. Ian Johnson (GOAL 7) 9. Martin Smeaton 10. Dave Eaton 11. Ian Sheridan 12. Andy McCoy (70 for Sheridan) 14. Dean Thurston (70 for Eaton) 15. Kevin Poole (80 for Dever) 16. Sean Nightingale (73 for Barlow) 17. Jon Bathurst (80 for Smeaton)" 3rd game in and they narrowly lost to an established club 3 divisions above them -early days and all - but it looks promising so far Pics from the game will probably be be posted on either the AFCL site or forums later:- http://afcliverpool.org.uk/go/ http://afcliverpool.darkbb.com/afc-liverpool-c1/

You don't need to support both clubs - though is there anything to say you can't support or go along to watch another club as well? If you're not going to Anfield much, or just would like to see what the craic is all about go to one of the AFC Liverpool games to find out - you may or may not like it - but at least you'll have hopefully had some of your questions or any doubts answered.

Dalglish backs AFC Liverpool http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N...080722-1004.htm "Kop legend Kenny Dalgish has joined boss Rafael Benitez in adding his support to the launch of AFC Liverpool. The former Reds striker offered words of encouragement to the non-league outfit's Chairman Alun Parry via a personal e-mail that praised the venture, which is aimed at keeping those priced out of Premier League football within the Liverpool family. "I would just like to congratulate you and everyone involved with AFC Liverpool," said Dalglish. "It is a brilliant idea and I hope it is a success for you all. "You can't always judge your success with results on the pitch. Your greatest success could be bringing a part of Liverpool FC to many people's lives. All the very best." Current Reds manager Rafael Benitez has already given his backing to the club after giving it the seal of approval in an interview with LFC TV. "I'm pleased with the idea," he told the club's official channel. "I think that, with more people closer to our club, it's good. "My message is just to wish them all the best, to score lots of goals and progress to another level. It will be fantastic for us." The support of two of the most famous names in the Liverpool's illustrious history has pleased Club founder and chairman Alun Parry, who said: "I am delighted that Kenny and Rafa are so supportive of AFC Liverpool. "We really appreciate their backing and hope that their support encourages Liverpool fans to get behind both clubs. "We are currently seeking shirt sponsorship, so having Kenny and Rafa on board will be a big help." AFC Liverpool have already claimed the first trophy in their short history after beating Nelson FC at the weekend in a game honouring the 50th anniversary of Joe Fagan's arrival as a coach at Anfield. Their next game is away against leading non-league outfit Marine at the Arriva Stadium in Crosby tonight while they will play their first home league game on August 9 against Darwen FC. Season tickets are now available now from the club. Adults £70, pensioners £25, under-18s £15."

Have a think about giving these a go:- http://www.jomzajung.com/cart/subcategory.asp?sid=85 £8 a shirt plus p&p Fakes - but good ones - several lads on rawk have posted pics and comparisons to the real shirts - not a lot of difference in the shirts - other than not giving G&H money to pay their debts
-
Nice bit of backing from Rafa and big Jan on the tv channel tonight - thought the lad from AFCL did well in getting his point across too. Hopefully they'll get some extra fans turning up on the back of it to give it a go.
-
I don't think (and hope not) that it will affect Prescot in the negative - they should come out with some cash for the groundshare, (plus anything extra that comes from that as a bonus percentage of advertising, drink or food sales?) I'm not sure you'd get many fans of AFCL also giving Prescot matches a go - but you never know. As for supporting the other non-league clubs in the Merseyside area - I don't want to come across the wrong way but i think the part-owning, running and deciding on big issues on how their own club is run is a major attraction that the other local clubs do not or cannot offer - let alone that the club is basically full of fellow Reds who have also been priced out of Anfield or become disillusioned on how us fans have been or are being treated. It would be interesting to find out from a Prescot (and LFC) fans' point of view on how the groundshare goes with AFCL throughout this season - both good and bad. Good luck for this season mate.
-
Certainly hope that will be the case. The media exposure has been quite good already (a tv spot on lfctv, as well as the lfc website, the echo, non-league papers and websites etc - and that'll probably continue for a good while as the season progresses Their own site got nearly 1million hits last month) They've already got some merchandise ready in scarves and badges - I'd imagine shirts, polos, stickers etc will be ready soon too. Should be interesting to see what the crowds are going to be numbers-wise for the home games - and if AFCL can maintain that interest and then build on it. Fair play to everyone involved - in such a short space of time they've done very well to have everything ready and organised for the new season - just hope things go as well on the pitch - and everyone enjoys it. Seems they've also signed some decent players for the squad too - http://afcliverpool.org.uk/go/1st-team/gou...pool-swoop.html A club run by fans - owned by fans - all reds at that. I don't see what's not to admire or like. £70 for a 17 home game season ticket (adults) £25 (pensioners) £15 (under 18's) and supporters with disabilities who require an assistant at the match are entitled to a free match ticket for their assistant. The Impending Summer, George Gillett and Fancard Farce
oojason replied to Spirit Of Shankly 's topic in Liverpool FC
will the money go to Rafa to help us compete with the Mancs and Arsenal - or is it going to the banks to pay off the loan that the 2 owners used to buy the club? if we all knew the monies were going to Rafa's transfer fund it wouldn't be so bad - but my gut feeling is that it won't be. -
cheers for that ajr - gets a bit confusing with all the differing requirements, proposals, & laws etc. FIFA's 6+5 proposal is the with having 6 players able to play for the country in which they play their league football in? does this also have include young foreign players who have been with the club for a certain amount of years as well?
