The Jota tragedy has obviously complicated matters. He would have been competing with Ekitike for the no.9 position, I reckon. I don't want Nunez playing for us again but signing another stilriker and a wide player (Diaz replacement) is a lot of upheaval. The left forward needs to ideally be able to play up front as well. I reckon it will be Gordon if Diaz leaves.

Whoever replaces Diaz will probably be versatile enough to fill in at CF, I reckon. Don't see us buying another no.9 unless Chiesa leaves as well as Nunez. That's Salah, Gakpo, Ekitike, Rodrygo/Gordon, Chiesa to choose from. As your front three. Wirtz behind them. Loads of goals there. Fkin loads.

The Nunez thing is quite different, I think. That felt like an impulsive move; one thing Edwards and co are not. It was a massive shift in styles. Ekitike might not work out but the Nunez mistake by a different recruitment team shouldn't prevent us from from going in for emerging ballers. Our other 3 signings are all low risk.

Think it's clear if we could get Isak we'd do it. The fact we're moving on Ekitike suggest we can't.
