Has anybody kept an up-to-date list of all the players we've bought since the end of the season? It must be somewhere in the 16-18 range by now.

Anybody want a Cisse shirt?

Problem is, I can't afford to have both Sky Sports and Setanta (I tried to get the rest of the family to drop Sky Movies - no chance!!!). If I drop Sky, I'll lose their live matches (but I could make do with just the Setanta live offerings), and Champions League games. Which one do you think I should go for?

I for one would like to thank the team for getting the site back up so quickly. I work in the IT Department of a school and appreciate how long it takes to rebuild a server. I've been like a fish out of water since the site went down, and I'm sooooo pleased to get back on here again. Thanks, Guys!

True, but it doesn't answer my question.

I'm a bit concerned at today's (good) news re contracts. Now that we know we're going to have Xabi and Momo at the club next season, it suggests to me that maybe Rafa doesn't think he'll be able to keep Masch after the end of the coming season. Does anybody actually know the position regarding Masch's contract? If so, please spill the beans

I was No.4 until I started reading this thread. Now it's No.2 and rising!

From the Times Online.... "Hicks believes that Benítez?s wife, Montse, will hold the key to keeping the manager at Anfield, although having been told by the Spaniard that he will stay, the Texan billionaire is adamant that Benítez would reject the advances of Real Madrid if the Spanish club come calling again in the summer, as is expected. ?Rafa?s not going anywhere,? Hicks said. ?He?s under contract and he told me that his wife has said that if he ever did go, he?d have to go without her because she?s staying in Liverpool. He?s staying in Liverpool, too, because he?s the man that we want." Great News!

Well done Prongsey; thanks very much!

It's nice to see that everybody concerned with the club are happy with the takeover. It can only bode well for the future.

I don't believe that Rafa will leave the club at the end of the Season. The new owners and their money will enable him to finish building his team with some tasty Possibilities. However, the day will come when rafa has decided that he's won enough Titles with the club (3 each of the EPL and CL??) that he wants to move on. For the next manager of Liverpool, only the very best need apply. So which top Manager would you like in 5-10 years time to be sitting in our new stadium? Personally, I'm going for Steve Coppell, though I know he's waiting for the call from OT and he'd never join us, but I can't think of a more reliable Boss when it comes to tactics. If he can make Reading this good, think what he could do with our squad.

I didn't switch the TV on until the game was about to start, left the room at half time, and switched off after rafa had been on. I only heard the panel after the game, and I was nearly as disgusted by their comments as I was throughout the match, listening to Andy Blue drone on with his usual cliches. Still, the match was good!

Absolutely. we're one of the top three teams in the country. How can you complain, when fans of lower division teams would give anything to be in our place. Support the Reds.

It all depends on how you look at the situation. It seems to me that we're still going to be a family club, just it's two families this time around. Don't forget that the Moores family are also rich businessmen, and they deserve full credit for the way they have looked after the club for all this time. I believe that Gillett and Hicks are partly buying the club for their children to look after in the long term. One of Gillett's sons is going to live over here to run things - I'm sure he will soon see just what a good club this really is and, hopefully, care about it. Exciting times ahead.

I'm quite liking all this speculation. Whereas the transfer rumours are going to finish in the next few hours, the Takeover will keep people interested for weeks or months to come! Seriously, all this is really doing my head in. Any other club would have sorted the Takeover out in a couple of weeks, Liverpool have made theirs into a real soap (2 series so far) and there's no end in sight. Time for a can, methinks.

From "TalkLFC" "Liverpool FC have announced the signing of Javier Mascherano from West Ham. Mascherano will sign for the Reds in an 18-month loan deal which has seen FIFA regulations torn up. Liverpool had attempted to sign the Argentine at the beginning of the transfer window, but due to the 'no more than two clubs a season' rule, have had to wait to get their man. Liverpool have had to get the lawyers involved to agree a deal with UEFA and FIFA, seeing as Mascherano has already played for Corinthians and West Ham this season. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez greeted the signing, saying: "We have an agreement to take him on loan for 18 months then we have an option to sign him permanently." "He is a top class player and played at the top level at the World Cup. We were monitoring him when he was with River Plate. The only question is whether he can play to his level in England, but I know he can play a lot better than he did at West Ham. "We don't have another holding midfielder and this is a crucial time for us. We will play against West Ham, Everton, Newcastle, Sheffield United and Barcelona twice." And Benitez reckons that Mascherano will fit in better at Anfield than with West Ham: "Maybe Liverpool can be a better option for him because we can speak in Spanish to him and we play a different style of football that suits him better. Corinthians and River Plate are top sides in their countries and he is used to winning trophies. I think he will have more possibilities with us." I forgot......Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What gets me is that 9 of the starting players are in our First team Squad. I guess Rafa may have to get another left winger now

I take it that you've seen the Training Pictures?

I think Rafa made all the right decisions, and his game plan was wrecked when Carra and Riise were injured. Bring on Haifa!
