I'm very drunk and have nothing useful to contribute to this thread except to thank everyone for sharing their thoughts for the last few days and it's been easier to get through this rollercoaster because of following things here with you all. For the rest of my days if I ever hear mention of a bear or a weasel I'll think of this time!

I wish they'd get on with it, keep expecting a last twist like in the film Carrie where the hand shoots up out of the grave...

I can't see why the Premier League can't make a stand against this. They should be able to make a rule change or declaration of some sort that in response to the attempted destruction of a member club by hostile foreign owners that if RBS were to take the club into immediate administration in order to facilitate the sale to NESV, (as agreed by the legally appointed board as judged by the UK Courts), then any points deduction would not be applicable as that sanction was intended to deter clubs operating at a loss and gaining an unfair advantage on the field (which is clearly not the case in this instance). RBS could put us into admin, tell Texas to get stuffed as the club is no longer owned by Hicks, then go on the attack for personal liabilities agreed with H&G, take their houses, cars, even the suits off their backs.

Following the successful conclusion of High Court proceedings today, the Boards of Directors of Kop Football and Kop Holdings met tonight and resolved to complete the sale of Liverpool FC to New England Sports Ventures. Regretably, Thomas Hicks and George Gillett have tonight obtained a Temporary Restraining Order from a Texas District Court against the independent directors, Royal Bank of Scotland PLC and NESV to prevent the transaction being completed. The independent directors consider the restraining order to be unwarranted and damaging and will move as swiftly as possible to seek to have it removed. A further statement will be made in due course.

I go to sleep for 4 hours and it gets even more exciting! I don't care if the new owners aren't sugar daddy abramovich types, as long as they run us properly. Be very interested to hear their stadium plans though, which no ones mentioned so far.

I've heard more plausible conspiracy theories about Princess Diana being responsible for 9/11 than the tangled mass of supposition and flawed logical jumps above.

But it is understood that, although talks took place between GSO and Hicks, they ended without a firm offer on the table. The Guardian has learned that GSO has now walked away and there is no chance of the Blackstone subsidiary lending Hicks the money. Liverpool fans' groups over the weekend made clear the depth of their hostility to the idea that Hicks could be bailed out by GSO, effectively buying him more time to find a new investor willing to pay a premium on the £218.9m the Americans paid for the club in 2007. Hicks met with the club's chairman, Martin Broughton, and the rest of the Liverpool board last week to outline his plan. RBS, which throughout has maintained that it wishes to find a solution that is in the best long term interests of the club, would nevertheless have no further say in the matter if its loan was repaid in full. Hicks and George Gillett put Liverpool up for sale in April, with RBS parachuting in Broughton to lead the sale process. But despite a series of high profile approaches, from Rhone Capital and Kenny Huang, no proper bid was ever lodged. Hicks had hoped that the funding would allow him to take full control, pay down the debt and provide funds for players. Now that Blackstone has walked away, it leaves him desperately searching for a replacement loan before the mid-October refinancing deadline. It would also see Gillett's 50% stake diluted, with the Colorado-native staying at Liverpool in an inactive role. A first attempt by Hicks to refinance the debt was rejected earlier this year by the Liverpool board to allow Barclays Capital to continue the ongoing search for a buyer. If Hicks approached the board with a new proposal, it is believed that they would also look to block it, although lawyers are split on whether they would be able to do so under company law.

Any game, and do anything short of a pitch invasion. Would picket, leaflet, try and talk people out of not going in. Would talk to people before game who are match goers but not internet types, try to get them to join in.

Ditto. Feel sick writing this. We need to start boycotting and picketing games now to send a message to hedge funds that there's no profit for them to be had if they keep Hicks in charge.

I see the match isn't on LFC.tv anymore but on a PPV channel called primetime on sky ch 480. Anyone used them before? Do you have to pre-register or just buy it on the night like a ppv movie?

Do YNWA have any of those Carnage T-Shirts left?
