  1. Is it about making the crowd more 'local' then? Only those born within the city boundaries have the right to go to the match? No-one likes the OOT'ers and their club shop carrier bags at the ground, but you like their money paying for Alonso and Sissoko? Liverpool football club is a business and as such it has to at least balance the books, OOT'ers and OOC'ers, along with corporate packages at any new ground, will contribute as much if not more to this than all the 'locals' put together mate. As for a couple of CL matches 4 or 5 years ago being not sold out, well perhaps you and your local mates are responsible for that as its a sight easier for you to attend than me? When you bring up the 80's you sound daft by the way.
  2. OK I get it now, we don't need a new ground because 4 years ago we didn't sell out a couple of midweek games in the CL! How did we do last season out of interest, or the season before when we won it? Anyone who hasn't already got a season ticket against a new ground? FWIW I'm currently trying to reserve some VIP tickets for next season FOR ANY HOME GAME so I can take my lad, running a pub and being the Chef means its impossible for me to arrange without plenty of notice and we struggled all last season and the one before after October. The last game he saw was Man City away as we were Corporate guests, I might add the whole experience was ******* fantastic, but its apparently OK for him to not go to the match as long as the current ST holders are bloody happy. The next game we're going to is the Lincoln friendly pre-season by the way, anyone else?
  3. Harsh but ever so true. Don't understand the situation where you can fail miserably at your job and get a massive pay-off as well, same with managers. Maybe new contracts need looking at?
  4. I thought he was captain of the U-19's last season when they won the euro's?

    Alves

If Guily leaves then Alves would be his replacement no? So instead of Alves for £7M+ we get Ludovic for £2-3M. But really I still want Joaquin!

    Defoe

Today's Mirror(I think) says that Defoe is 3rd choice behind Bent & Bellamy, Maddock probably. Is he still tight with Robbie, because most of what he says could well have been cut and pasted straight from this site.
  7. Anyone care to ring Beckham and ask?
  8. That spanish side is basically s**** apart from one or two outstanding individuals.
  9. There were about 25 of us last year in my pub singing "Champions League...you're having a laugh" at 2 O'Clock in the morning, it was all I could manage apart from screaming "F****ng Hell" every minute or so. Great night.
  10. Mikey

    Defoe

He has mate, he's been pants and I don't really care how much he tries he hasn't been scoring or setting players up much and thats what he was bought to do.
  11. Mikey

    Defoe

    Go on then!
  12. Any day he feels like it mate, better than Simao, SWP, Pennant, Prieto, Alves and anyone else you care to mention. The only question over him is the desire to do it week in week out, but his talent is beyond reproach.
  13. Mikey

    Defoe

All I would say that Rafa has started all the important games with basically the same 10 and its just who plays up front with Crouch that gets rotated occasionally. If what Elisha says about HK is true then its obvious that he won't be 1st choice(which he is now) for much longer due to his injury problems.
  14. Figaro says we're interested in Joaquin for Morientes + £££, on his day the best RW in the world.
  15. Mikey

    Defoe

So now Kuyt ain't as good as United's 3rd choice striker behind Saha and Rossi with Rooney injured? Isn't that how this works?
  16. Mikey

    Defoe

You're one of the VERY FEW that wasn't aimed at mate, but SGE picks Walcott ahead of him so Defoe is cr@p yet MVB plays Kuyt at RW but he's great apparently? How many of the posters on this thread have seen more than 10 minutes of him on late night telly? Colours to mast here, I'd be delighted with Defoe and 1 other.
  17. Mikey

    Defoe

They'll be saying Kuyt after never seeing him play, and him playing RW for Holland.
  18. Mikey

    Defoe

Chelsea are signing Shevchenko and Simao, does this mean you wouldn't want SWP or Crespo? Defoe is on standby for england and is extremely likely to go as cover for Rooney, he's only out of the squad because SGE has totally lost it and called up a 17 year old kid who has played 0 PL games EVER. Bent is behind AJ in the England pecking order, which one of them would you prefer? Honestly Ericsson's opinion should never be used when discussing relative players merits.
  19. I said to my lad watching it that the whole subs bench could be off in the Summer, Dude, Kromkamp, Didi, Traore and Moro. Out of the starters, Cisse if the right money comes in and maybe JAR as well.
  20. Mikey

    Defoe

Most definitely hope so!!!! DEfoe/Bellamy/Kuyt/Owen All would significantly improve us up front. So would Bent FWIW.
  21. OUR soul???
  22. Mikey

    Please NO

Don't want to come across as negative and all that but Riise had another shocker, seems to have lost all of the little pace he had and his stamina is out of the window. I know he is part of our best back 5 but thats mainly thanks to Traore and Warnock being more s****.
  23. Agree entirely, I think only a lack of funds will stop this happening. Crouch, Fowler and 2 from Bent/Bellamy/kuyt/Owen/Torres looks pretty good to me.
  24. Gerrard is better, but Rooney would be absolutely perfect for us.
  25. The kind with a sense of humour.
