  1. Name and shame them now. Who were they? I only recall one, the poster formerly known as Wayne.
  2. Just won and converted a penalty for Uruguay against Peru.
  3. See above - I don't recall Rafa ever claiming that Keane would have been a success if Barry had signed. And if you're talking about recognising mistakes do you recall who sold Keane to Tottenham a few months later recouping most of what we had paid for him? Now THAT was a monumental mistake by Redknapp senior.
  4. Your point being? As far as I know Rafa doesn't have a crystal ball and you don't either. He wasn't claiming that things would have worked out for Keane at Liverpool if Barry had signed. He was simply stating - as a fact - that his instructions to Parry were to sign Barry first and only if that happened to sign Keane.
  5. Yeah, well he could have been speaking nonsense or maybe, just maybe, he is an obsessively detailed and ultra successful tactician who thinks so far ahead of the rest of us that it it is rather challenging to explain what his plans were.
  6. I was wondering if epieur had watched the same games the rest of us have
  7. Are you saying that my saying this was Rafa's plan is nonsense or that Rafa's plan was nonsense?
  8. No, by signing Keane before signing Barry. The implication being that if we were sticking with Alonso that Rafa would not have sanctioned the purchase of Keane. And I'm not making this up - Rafa himself said this during his book tour.
  9. But how sweet would it be if our loan signing helped us finish above the Chavs?
  10. Ah, but that was the kick in the a*** Alonso needed As has been gone over many times, including by Rafa himself, the plan was to replace Alonso with Barry and then bring in Keane to be part of the new style of play. Parry went ahead and screwed that up. It's pure conjecture as to what would have happened in 2009 with Barry and Keane in the starting line-up. Dossena was a poor buy, pure and simple. Rafa has made many of those, as has every successful manager. My point about Henderson is that even an average fan like myself could tell that he was worth far more than the amount he was being offered for. It's very different from, say, buying Dossena (or Sakho, Ilori, etc.) where we cannot honestly say at the time whether these players are worth more or less than what we paid for them.
  11. I was staggered by the Ozil price. Then I looked at his stats for RM and wondered why they let him go? 29 assists in La Liga last season is remarkable (even with Ronaldo as a teammate).
  12. Sure - but that doesn't change the fact that Brendan showed really poor judgment in his first transfer window. This isn't me being wise after the fact - I protested at the time and said it was incredible he was trying to offload a 21 year old England international, who had just gone to the Euros, for £3 million. I don't think Henderson had even played a competitive game under Rodgers at the time. So, yes, let's shower Rodgers with praise for our brilliant start to the season and what looks like a promising transfer window overall. But let's not lose all perspective here. Just as we weren't about to throw BR under the bus during the difficult first few months let's see how the team develops over the next few months.
  13. A kick up the a*** is dropping a player from the first-team. If Brendan had had his way Henderson would be a Fulham player today. And we'd probably be looking to buy him back for £20 million.
  14. We'd have to win every one of those to get 18 points. Unless they're awarding bonus points for clean sheets or something ... We must sack Rodgers if we have to go through a CL qualifier
  15. Liverpool have completed three deals on the morning of transfer deadline as Victor Moses joined the club on loan following the permanent signings of defenders Thiago Ilori and Mamadou Sakho. Moses, 22, joined Chelsea from Wigan Athletic last summer for £9 million, but despite scoring ten goals in 42 appearances for the Blues last term he has been sent out on loan by new boss Jose Mourinho. "First and foremost, I'm delighted to have made the loan from Chelsea to a big club like Liverpool," the Nigeria international told Liverpool's official website. "The most important thing is for me to be professional about it and I'm here to do a job for the club. "The target is to get into the top four and for the club to compete in the Champions League - and I'm delighted to be here. "The manager has done very well and the formation and players here will help me and I just want to gel in, get to know the players and play with them. "There are a lot of quality players here - they're winning games and creating chances. It's a massive thing for me to be here." Welcome Victor! http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1540743/liverpool-complete-tiago-ilori-mamadou-sakho-victor-moses-signings?cc=5901
  16. "Ilori was the fastest player ever recorded over 30 metre sprints at Sporting's academy set-up, breaking the times of the likes of pace merchants Nani, Ricardo Quaresma and Cristiano Ronaldo in the process."
  17. Agreed agreed agreed And yet there were those on here who said it would be suicidal to sit back and defend against the Mancs after we took the lead at Anfield last year. And that was with ten men ...
  18. Although Kenny's time at Newcastle was widely regarded as a failure and he was, of course, sacked, a number of his signings proved their worth in the years after he left. Nolberto Solano, Shay Given, and Gary Speed were all bargains in retrospect. Even Jon Dahl Tomasson proved to be a success in Holland and Italy. Then there was a certain Dietmar Hamann All the signs are that Henderson will be added to the list of initially questionable Dalglish buys that turned out to be shrewd.
  19. True, but can we realistically have Coutinho, Sturridge and Suarez in our first-choice XI?
  20. I think we're all beginning to think along the lines that we could be on the verge of something special under BR. However, a first transfer window in which his major signings were Allen and Borini as well as trying to offload Henderson in part-exchange for Dempsey suggests it's been a steep learning curve for Brendan.
  21. TV commentator said we have (something like) a 65% win rate without Suarez in the team and 35% with him in the team.
  22. 1. Johnson 2. Sturridge 3. Skrtel
  23. Ignore
  24. Of the YouTube compilations I came across this one most fairly represents Victor's strengths and weaknesses. (This was one of his best games for Chelsea.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3EhDE0cl3M
