We kept Dudek when we signed Reina, if Reina had bombed we had a capable keeper to step in. I think Mignolet is potentially a very good keeper. I don't think he is as good as Reina currently and I don't know if he will go on to be as good as Reina is/was. I do know that Jones is rubbish and I would be terrified if he had to go in goal for a meaningful set of games.

Is that 27 league starts or 27 in total? In my head (I know after the last page) I had him as very much a bit part 4th choice at City.

I've f***ed up here, he was banned in 10/11 wasn't he, not 11/12, I've lost a season. Apologies, I still don't want him first choice though.

It's not the signing of him I have a problem with it's the loaning out of Reina and leaving us with just Mignolet that I have a problem with. Many keepers have done well at mid-table sides and crashed at a big club. He's only 25 years old, it's a huge gamble.

And for what it's worth, maybe his lack of game time at Man City should help him extend his career by a season or so. Agree with this 100%, but not being involved very much for his team for 2 years means that question marks must remain over what we are getting.

He was banned in March 2011, he's been a bit part player for City ever since so in terms of meaningful contributions he hasn't made any for 2 years. We don't know what we are getting. I stand by that re Mignolet, he is completely unproven, he's come from Sunderland and now he is the main man at Liverpool with no meaningful competition. It scares the hell out of me.

Now THAT is stretching it. The lad has been out of the game for nearly 2 years for one reason and another. We have no idea how good he is any more. At his best he was in the same group as Carra, now he is probably better than last season's Carra, primarily because Carra's legs had gone last season. I'd be worried if he and Agger were our first choice pairing for the season though as he is very much an unknown quantity.

Why not, you can love a club and it's fans and make a business decision.

That would be the best outcome for us certainly and then if his words about loving the club are true, he can fire us back into the CL past a Bale less Spurs and a Suarez less Arsenal, then he can play for US in the f***ing CL in 2015 and if he doesn't get us there we are no worse off than now and everyone knows exactly where they stand and if we are 15th in March we can start post Suarez plans.

Yes, which is why I would prefer Suarez to stay and Suarez is more likely to stay if Real spend £85 on Bale. So it's better for us all round.

Firstly would Di Maria and Coentrao go to Spurs? Secondly would anyone else really good? Thirdly, no, Bale was Spurs last season, they would have been nowhere without him. They would be losing one of the star players last season and replacing him with players who might do an Adebayor. I will be delighted if Real sign Bale.

It is, but the problem is we have neither the man who attracts nor the CL and the absence of the CL is affecting the lustre of the name year by year. You have a top class established manager at the helm the minimum you attract is top class players who enjoyed working with him previously, you also attract players who are impressed by his reputation.

Kenny Dalglish knowingly spent every penny Liverpool had? I don't think it's an exaggeration to say Moyes is not a name that attracts. If they fail to get Fabregas they are going for ....... Fellaini.

For god's sake man give it a rest, we've got far bigger problems than Johnson at the moment.

I think more likely, is that he feels they have a far greater chance of 4th with Bale rather than without and if they can make 4th and then sell Bale, the options are much greater in recruiting. The Suarez Real/Arsenal thing wont factor it would just be a bonus if Arsenal don't strengthen.

I find that hard to believe as Hicks and Gillette were syphoning off £30m a season to pay debts. Where did that money go? Would Kenny Dalglish really have spent £75m of Liverpool's money on 3 players if he knew that was it, the pot was bone dry afterwards? Where did the £50m for Torres go? the £10m+ for Meireles, the £6m for Babel I'm struggling to see why the books don't balance here. Remove £30m of debt a season, spent £100m over two seasons, recoup £60m, surely there is £20m a season spare.
