  1. so we're could get taken over by someone who wants to get 1 up on the man city owner ...hmmm
  2. Regarding Heskey, I'm not sure - We need a plan B but plan B needs to be content with being plan B and be capable of scoring. I'm not sure Heskey would be capable of scoring enough. Still if I were Heskey I would knock back O'neill tell him to wait till the summer and then make my mind up. O'neill's just playing at gazumping right now and it may not be the best move for Heskey
  3. well it means the Yanks are looking to sell, no news there - hopefully this will encourage DIC or some other Person/conglomerate WHO ARE FANS/SUPPORTERS to make a bid. Sure we need money and a stable hand ( pref. a good relationship with Rafa) but it would be nice to have someone own us who genuinely cares for the club, its traditions and has the money to do something about it
  4. fair enough, so far he could be a Heskey, a Drogba or a Santa Cruz ....
  5. People keep mentioning: Sweinteiger (sp) but TBH would he really be a significant step up on Kuyt? Quaresma - well he's ok doesn't score enough and wouldn't impose himself on the opposition FB let alone help out the RB Juaquin - see Quaresma Jesus Navas - looked ok with Alves - see quaresma (only worse)... wont leave Spain 'Kuba' (Polish Winger) doesn't seem to score goals not sure he's an improvement no Kuyt Simao - more like a Reira lite for the right IMO Desperately wanted but missed (figures) Ribery Alves ( yeah I know he's a RB) Not seen enough of to comment Lucho Gonzales Alexis Sanchez Latifa Forgotten name Brazilian Rw plays in germany we were linked with Affelay (never even heard of him) Talented but I wonder about their goal return and assists Valencia 18m and Chelsea are after him as well as Man U Menez - looked good but wonder about consistency and effectiveness ( goals, assists etc) Why the F doesn't this work ! Babel - why can't he make Kuyt's position his ? Long term Aderson, Hamill .... you never know
  6. would love to see you list of RW that would fit the bill .... there just doesn't seem to be that many of them and those I know of are already at a top team
  7. His hard work industry and loyalty make him an asset Rafa loves, but what if we could get that and consistent flair and goals for the RHS ? the only way to improve is to have the courage to sell some good players (plus some average ones) and invest in someone Rafa thinks can consistently bring more ( plus getting rid of the average players opens up spots for Anderson, Hamill etc )
  8. TBH I'd still take that
  9. you're right - we need to bring balance to the team and find an alternative for when players are unavailable or plan a isn't working
  10. would have liked a collar and maybe a retro version in cotton - maybe followed by a black and white dvd of players wearing hobnailed boots ...
  11. Everyone talks about Keane's passion, he's a boyhood red etc - well one thing I notice is that the problems on the field are never his fault, and the faces he pulls during substitutions ... Keane has an emotion regulation problem he gets so hot headed he stops thinking and far from making him better it makes him worse. Then his ego wont let him accept this is a step up from what he's used to and he's gonna have to bring his A game ALL THE TIME. People want Keane to succeed, but I can see why Rafa drops him, it's not always about how he's playing it how he makes the team feel and play. If you watch teams sometimes the manager drops a great player just so the team plays better, I wont say Keane is great ( he's not) but I suspect a little of the same reasoning. Keane needs to focus that desire and passion on his football, not at raging at his colleagues and the manager.
  12. Or 50m for the Yanks - the point is Rafa HAS to get that money AND be allowed to spend it how he sees fit
  13. Paint it black: Liverpool to sport charcoal and gold away kit next season By LAURA WILLIAMSON Last updated at 4:53 PM on 21st January 2009 Liverpool will play their away games in black shirts next season, Sportsmail understands. The new Adidas kit will have a gold trim and red piping with the club's Carlsberg sponsor emblazoned in gold across the chest. Black and gold: Liverpool's new away kit is a break with tradition The design echoes the kit Liverpool used as their third and European away strip last season, as well as the black shirts worn by Manchester United in 2007/08. A predominantly white shirt will be designed for Liverpool's third strip of the 2009/10 season. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...n.html?ITO=1490
  14. 4231 doesn't use chalk-dust wingers like Pennant - Babel can play either wing in 4231 but is less useful in 442
  15. The person I wanted for the RHS was Ribery, he's gone now so we're left looking at players I haven't seen much of like Latifa and Valencia - I wonder if anyone knows how good these players have been for their clubs this season ? TBH for the RHS we may have to stick with Kuyt or take the whip to Babel give him extra training sessions and turn him into a decent LA/RA for when we play 4231 which we should play most of the time
  16. absolutely - for me the unsolved problem is Babel, he needs to accept that his role here is as an attacker not a striker and look to make Kuyts position his own, then we'll be set
  17. Our reserves and youth team need a better league and more games - that's the problem how do you get them the extra games ? If we were allowed to own a scottish club we could play them there as the first team - cant think of any other alternatives short owning another club
  18. Tend to agree - however ; we need an alternative plan when 4231 doesn't work and we need adequate replacements so that Rafa can rest players biggest problem is replacing Gerrard and Torres
  19. well his price is quoted to be 150m - no chance - guess we need to look at Babel there and/or go for Valencia
  20. He's an ideal squad player, works his ass off, follows instructions doesn't disrupt... however if we're to progress sacrifices have to be made and if true I would look to taking that. However I would want to get rid of Keane, Benyoun and Dossena in preferance. But we're gonna need to generate a lot of money next transfer window in order to improve, better players tend to cost more money. Plus Barry isn't going to be cheap
  21. and Voronin and Itanje too
  22. Darby ?
  23. we need to sell quickly to be able to get the people we need we're short of cash
  24. Yes, have to agree with your reasoning there - suspect we'll be back in for Barry and with Plessis and Pachecho we wont need Lucas if we keep Alonso ( hope we do).
  25. Thanks don't know why but I would keep Leiva and Babel - give them another season. Kuyt unfortunately will be kept that leaves IMO Keane, Dossena and Benayoun ( plus Voronin, Itanje ) = 25-30m if we're lucky - shame spurs made a late bid for Pennant, we might have got some money for him.
