  1. errrmmm think something's been lost here
  2. You know exactly where I'm coming from. If I thought we could adapt when need then I'd be fine
  3. Thisis the point though. That Dutch game was Kenny's football. Not overly controlled but easily good enough to win if people could shoot straight. We were happy to keep Kenny because you can eventually win like that. None of us (yellowjumper aside) wanted to keep Roy despite similar results because we knew we were not going to get anywhere.
  4. The defence is that this is the only course that english horses can run so we have to play this way. Not that you need to change tactics for each opponent. It's Hodgson's defence. It's a nonsense of a defence.
  5. You're wrong on this. Hodgson's football does not have at it's core the desire to control your own destiny. It's designed to minimse potential injury. I'm not after heroic failure. i would rather fail doing the right thing than fail doing something which made failure almost inevitable. If you are trying to do something which has a higher chance of success then you have a higher chance of success
  6. lack of education growing up in the tough streets of South London, or I have blind spot ooohhhh
  7. Which is exactly why we shouldn't have given a 118 year old a 3 year contract in 2010.
  8. I think it will be much the same against Sweeden. We're playing a game where we are reliant on events instead of taking control of our destiny. Maybe we'll get a set piece and score, maybe someone will knock it in from 30 yards maybe two of the better players will link and we'll score. I get keeping it tight because if you don't conceed then you only have to score one but there are are ways of doing it while actually trying to do something which will result in a win. If I thought he was going to do something different v Sweeden I'd kinda be like "fair enough". We're going to get found out at some stage and we're going to get found out whilst indulging this cowardice. What a schit way to go out.
  9. I don't see how a poster capable of writing loads of sense on just about every issue can't see what the main contention with Hodgson is or is seemingly reluctant to express it. Especially when you're a Liverpool and England fan. He's telling the nation that this is how to play football. The nation is believing this is how to play football. This is going to make us crap at football.
  10. but if we carry on playing like this then we're done. Do you genuinely want to argue that this manager, this Roy Hodgson is capable of anything else. Do you really want to go down that line in defence of your forum persona's contrarian stance. We know this man. We've got history with this man. We've suffered at the hands of his work. We know it can't go anywhere positive from here. We've also watched our national team struggle to emerge from the philosophies of dinosaurs which gripped the nation's footballing psyche for decades and became so embedded and interwoven in our sporting culture and synonomous with our very identity that we can't escape into something effective. So yeah Cobs "1-1 in the opening group game with France is OK" but that's not all it is and you know this.
  11. F*ckloads. Sh*tloads. C*ntloads of muppets acting like this is football. Greece actually played far better against France than we did 8 years ago btw and Chelsea by any normal measure were out three times over against Barca and lost that final. This isn't sustainable.
  12. Dear Forum This for me is the most interesting development of the Ant v RBM wars. The directors commentary which runs paralell with it. Traditionally it is lead by Kvarme ate my food and Swan Red pleading that the deterioration of the debate cannot solely be Ant's fault. But now something new and exciting is happening. Some of the players from the initial war e.g Swipe are now involving themselves in the commentary. This could potentially lead to the whole thing collapsing in on itself as the structure subverts.
  13. My mate said after the game that it will take a while for the players to get used to Hodgson's style. I poiunted out that this was b0ll0x as it is the simplest type of football to teach and pushes top players to about 50% of what they are capable of doing. If this is his football then lack of time isn't an excuse. We are already here.
  14. I know that you're used to figting this lone role of "Lampard isn't actually s***", "Beckham played well against Greece" and "England aren't just a bunch of c*nts, it's ok to support them if you're English" but you're not the only one who thinks along those lines. There is definitely something fundamentally wrong with where this is going under Hodgson in terms of the attitude being encouraged and the actual football on the pitch.
  15. You think I hate England?
  16. I hate what he does. Wish redknapp had got it if it was a straight race between the 2
  17. I wonder about this. There's so much out there about his style. Surely you can just find a way to stop it with all gthis time to prepare. Could say the sme about Barca I spose. Although I spose Mourinho did. Being able to spend all the money in the world helps
  18. It's so clear as day. We (Liverpool fans) were the only ones with the moral courage* to have rejected Hodgson's vision and dream crushing rhetoric which seeks to limit the paradigms of hope, bravery, joy and ambition to within the confines of his mediocrity. Our country's football is going to smothered underneath this suffocating blanket Hodgson's reality. It's the equivalent of all the long ball nonsense which we were teaching our kids. Then all of a sudden we realised the rest of the world was better than us. This football is backwards looking reactionary filth which will see us thrashing around in the backwaters searching for our relevance and place in the world. But everyone just nods sagely agreeing how we've matured because we drew with France and we have an england manager that looks statesmanlike. All of these people will consider themselves patriots. All they're doing is further securing our nation's decline in our nations sport. Succinct and brilliant
  19. Thank f*ck someone in the media can see it. It's like I'm living in a parallel universe. Everyone is dead pleased with it. They're so desperate for Hodgson to be a tactical genius and to be accepting the new "realism" of our world standing that anything goes. That performance is all there is from Hodgson. It doesn't develop from here. I don't know what happened at the WC it was truly horrific. Not sure it topped the USA performance (inferior opposition accepted). It was only Green being the uber shyte keeper he is that stopped a win
  20. so true. i'm as guilty as anyone
  21. me too
