  1. Anyone watching? Giving what seems a fairly candid account of his time as Liverpool manager.
  2. Thought this would be about potentially signing the Madrid CB, who wants out. Shame.
  3. Theres no real room for Rafa at the minute is there though? Not with Comolli anyway.
  4. I like to think so. Discuss.
  5. Great to see he wants the job again. He just has to be the manager after dalglish. And by after, I mean after Dalglish has had his time as permanent manager.
  6. Pleased with what he said, but I take with a pinch of salt given hes a seasoned businessman and knows exactly what to say and when to say it. He wont be making an media faux-pas'.
  7. That was pretty good overall. Nice seeing a bit of a gamble with the formation too. Too far to class it as an attempt at total football?
  8. YESSSSSSSSSSS GET IN !!!!!!!!!!!
  9. I told you Raul would come good
  10. So who out of Aurelio and Johnson is playing in midfield?
  11. Ahhh show some emotion mate. Compare to the Torres fiasco and at least he shows a bit of respect for the club there.
  12. Still cant believe this. Shocked.
  13. Yeah agree that Torres had to go really, as gutted as I am to say that. With Carrolls fee though, Im going to have to see some super heroic performances fairly quickly. Sorry, get your points and I see what youre saying, but Im going to have to leave things at a "lets wait and see" thing.
  14. People listing all these past players and where they came from. I dont think the point is anything to do with where Carroll has come from or how reputable they were before the move. Its the price. Highly doubt any of them moved for anywhere near the ridiculous fee that we've seen for Carroll.
  15. The problem with this is that Torres cost about £25M tops. Thats 10M less than Carroll costs. Ages were the same at signing so its easy to compare - Carroll has the experience ive already mentioned. Torres had six full seasons for Atletico, was made captain at 19, played in teh intertoto cup (gaining at least some european experience), played in the 2006 WC and had 55 caps for Spain with 15 goals by the time we signed him. Such an example shows up how much we;ve been stung here. Its lunacy
  16. Not sure exactly what you meant with your first question? I assume its to do with splashing out again for another £35M transfer in the summer? Irrelevant if thats what you mean - that doesnt change the value of this transfer, and its lunacy. Not steep, utter lunacy. The "but its not my money" is silly really, because its the club money. We shouldnt just be throwing it away. Youre right about it showing signs of the owners intentions though - we're giong to be held to ransom for every player we bid for from now on, because it seems like once we target a player we just up the bid until they crack. Splashin out big time on a player doesnt make it right either. Still no need for nasty insults really, Id prefer it if we all stayed sensible and stayed friends.
  17. Haha how about some of these "PRICK" rebuttals are actually backed up with some good hard facts? Instead of petty insults eh? Who said he had 1 goal in 2 games in the last few seasons? Stupid really. Its only 19 in 42 in ONE season in the championship. So not only ONE season of proven goalscoring, it was in the championship. Ridiculous really. That sort of goal tally does not justify £35M layout. Sorry lads, but it doesnt.
  18. So much trash here. Rooney isnt comparable. Was three years younger, touted as potential world class at a young age (Carroll's merely been touted as the potential to be a good international), and had played 20 times for england scoring 9 times before the end of 2004. Add to that Rooney actually cost about 10m less and thats why it isnt comparable. Myth busted. Wouldnt call Carroll a "young up and coming player". He's 22 and has such limite experience - the same level of experience it would be expected of some 18/19 year old who hadnt been let near the first team. Im not sure how this shows we arent a selling club either, when we've just sold torres. whether carroll or anyone else comes in matters not a jot as to selling torres, ergo we've still sold and are still a selling club of sorts, whatever that may mean. not sure why i need to name anyone either? that doesnt make the price of carroll any easier to take. its obscene - consider Dzeko for instance. 27M from moneybags city and look at the experience he has. the fee is utter lunacy, and just because we may have deeper pockets than previous doesnt make spending it all frivilously any easier to accept. lunacy. Not saying hes a bad player and we were wrong to sign him btw. just think the fee itself it ridiculous really.
  19. How can I slate the fee? Mostly by the fact that with £35M we could have bought any striker in europe willing to join us, with said striker no doubt having an infinitely better portfolio of experience, and a better off the field attitude to boot. This is nothing but a random punt in the dark. Could go either way, and hes just as likely to turn out rubbish as he is to turn into this 20 goal a season striker that everyone seems to have him down as. Hes had half a season in the premiership and no european experience, with only 3 goals signed at this point last season for a dominant team in the championship. There is simply NO turn around in playing quality that could see a fee rise so quickly. For £35M you expect a finished article, not an inexperienced player who at 22 isnt exactly a youngster anymore.
  20. Haha amazing to see people slating the fee getting shot down. The fee is terrible, whatever you think of Carroll.
  21. Never said he was slow, but hes not quick enough to run channels well for a top team. Sorry, but he aint. This isnt a criticism btw, just means we'll see a slight change in tactics, which is a shame given how good we'd looked at pass and move lately. He's also nowhere near Torres in terms of technique, and I dont think he'll be getting the free kicks to take so thats moot. Not really a natural finisher either, so not sure what to make of it.
  22. 442 has had its day, and, especially if we buy Adam, I cant see us playing it. Which means we need our main striker to be at least sharing responsibility of running the channels.
  23. He doesnt fit our current style of play though? Carroll is nowhere near as technically efficient as Torres and he wont run the channels because hes too slow. Sickening fee.
  24. Yeah its just s*** all round. About 15-20M too much for a player that could go either way. Such a panic buy. Doesnt even fit our current style of play ffs. Totally bizarre.
  25. this is ridiculous.
