  3. Why? Have you heard something?
  4. My thoughts exactly Mr TheW
  5. Sorry, quite right, my mistake - keep forgetting Rafa tells the press everything and keeps nothing to himself. Come on, do the maths. Five? Tow of them are prospects, yet to prove themselves. They'll still get their chance, even if when we sign Owen. Owen will give us four international strikers, which is what we had before we sold Baros.
  6. I thought the t'internet was the real world
  7. Silly me. There was I thinking we needed a squad to give us different options etc per game, allow rotation for injuries/rest and so forth when all we really need is one player per position and seven subs Quick, someone get Rafa on the phone Posts merged: Well, he can't do it twice I grant you...
  8. Owen can hold the ball up, drift out wide and cross it in, take on defenders with skill and/or pace, run on to balls over the top, drop deep and pick it up, and - if called upon - head the damn thing. I don't know if you've noticed, but Henry plays quite a lot as a lone striker (in a 4-4-1-1) and last time I checked his lack of headed goals was not hindering him greatly
  9. Don't talk rot. Rafa doesn't want him, the rest of the team don't want him - hell, Owen doesn't even want to come here, it's all down to Moores and his interfering ways
  10. Must have been Morientes who scored that crackin' header against the mancs then...
  11. There isn't a bloke alive who doesn't have the ability to play by himself up front Owen has the added advantage of being able to play as a lone striker, of course...
  12. Where are we up to with this now, Dave. Are we on Tick or Tock?
  13. You're such a liar, Rafa
  14. Press conference the day before a game? STOP THE PRESS!!!!
  15. Le T and Benitez would disagree with you I think. It was after being told he was fourth choice striker that he decided to go off on loan if I recall correctly
  16. Know Your Champ Manager Superstars Sonny
  17. In a shot
  18. And what's your point?
  19. But I did...
  20. That's what it says on my job description
  21. I'll be sending this from home later: I am shocked and appalled you have seen fit to publish an article so bereft of fact as to make it a work of offensive fiction. I refer, of course, to the recent leader column of The Spectator. How you can have the temerity to publish a piece so error ridden is beyond me - and the fact such an article is doing nothing more than pouring salt on still-open wounds makes me wonder what planet you are currently residing on. Thoughts and opinions of Ken Bigley aside, the families and friends of the 96 victims of the Hillsborough tragedy will feel nothing but anger and revulsion at the way you have portrayed such a tragic day. As a fellow journalist, I find it amazing that you did not arm yourself with the facts before spewing forth such bile - but the fact you did not even bother to acquaint yourself with the actual figure ("more than 50" is nothing more than an insult) just beggers belief. As a fan of Liverpool football club, I have long given up on the press coverage of that day in 1989 when innocent people lost their lives, but when a supposedly intelligent publication produces an article which a toddler with a thesaurus could have improved it just makes me despair. The Hillsborough Justice Campaign is still fighting for the truth to be heard, and for those responsible to brought to justice. I trust your publication will cover the event when that day comes. As for your comments about the city itself, it is clear to me you have never made it any further north than the Watford Gap. And I'm willing to bet you only got that far because your chauffer got lost. If people are to be educated and informed - something journalists are trained to do - then articles like this should never see the light of day. All you are doing is fuelling prejudice and racism - something the Conservative party alleges to be against. May I suggest the author of this article is put on the first train to Lime Street, where he can make a full, and very public, apology in the city he has seen fit to reduce to a stereotype.
  22. Put me down for The Stanley mate. I'll e-mail you later
