Tremendous result. Lots still to work on - principally the Lovren/Sakho partnership, but that can be worked on. Sakho's composure on the ball is another matter. Gerrard will have much better games with the ball, but risks getting exposed when oppositions counter. Full backs look great, Balotelli will get sharper but put in a good shift, Sturridge great team play, etc. Re-establishing us as a side to be feared the best part of that.

Maybe we should have had a cheeky go for Cambiasso, although he's past his best. Don't think we've got anyone I'm confident in the Makalele role. For a while in that City game we defended well from midfield and then it fell apart with people running from deep into the box, and that was how Soton scored too. We don't have the discipline and/or concentration to play that game defensively.
