    He's not paid to give opinion that will stand the scrutiny of whether or not he really loves the club. Also it would be rather yucky if he did. He's still a twonk and all, but not because of that.

    Seems that way unfortunately. In hindsight I suppose that makes him less viable as longterm manager. He's just gone and done what Conte or mourinho would have done as well in that regard, hasn't he.

    They do that all the time and are never f***ed. Alonso’s problem is that he wants too much tactically from this side and they want a top class vibes manager a la Ancelotti, Zidane and Del Bosque.

    He's on the verge of being sacked himself apparently. Madrid players don't like being asked to train tactical stuff.

    Only Guardiola has ever amassed more points than leverkusen did that season. They were undefeated all season except for the last game when they lost the europa league final. Maybe they were lucky to win it so supremely but they weren't lucky to win it.

    I actually think he's been OK in an under performing in a terrible side kind of way.

    The wins are actually strange as we played really well in those games. How did we do that?

    We were OK against an abject PSV. Playing well in a soft touch kind of way against a team that let us play. Then they decided to step it up once they realised this was all we had. It's like thinking we're fit because we are bench pressing a naked barbell. Then the first set of weights is added and we're lying there choking as we can't get the barbell off our neck.

    That's not what happened. First half wasn't grand. It was our attempt at playing well in soft mode (which is our ceiling atm) against an awful side and we still couldn't score beyond an awful rebound from the keeper. Second half we came out the same, whilst PSV had decided we're there for the taking at half time. Our level didn't change. Just the opposition.

    I can accept economy of effort when we're winning games. Routinely being outrun by a significant margin when we are losing game after game is intolerable. All of this is shaped by Slot's death spiral.

    It's very strange to be here. The only question is who takes over. I think we'll need to settle for an interrim guy to salvage top four unless Alonso gets mutinied out of Madrid real quick.
