The murder trial of US music producer Phil Spector has been postponed until 11 September.

A judge agreed to postpone the trial because of scheduling conflicts of prosecutors and a defence lawyer.

The trial had been set for 24 April but one of Mr Spector's lawyers is involved in a trial in New York that is expected to go beyond that date.

Mr Spector, 66, denies shooting, actress Lana Clarkson in February 2003, claiming that she committed suicide.

Career

Mr Spector - who is free on $1m (£573,461) bail - attended the court hearing under the escort of two body guards on Wednesday.

He declined to comment when leaving the Los Angeles court.

Mr Spector is credited with inventing the "wall of sound" technique and helping the careers of Cher and the Ronettes.

He also worked with artists such as The Beatles, Elvis Presley, the Righteous Brothers and Bruce Springsteen.

Ms Clarkson, who was best known for her role in the 1985 film Barbarian Queen, was working as a hostess at a Los Angeles blues club at the time of her death at the Los Angeles home of Mr Spector.
