We all know either Rooney or a Chelsea player will win without any justification. Or even Henry. Stevie will never win this award even though he deserved it - 3 seasons running now - certainly not from the moronic press writers who get to decide who wins an award. Why a bunch of agenda-driven, armchair fans get to select the player of the year, I don't know.

John Terry must be in with a shout ? I hate the Chavs, but his contributions seem to me to be far more valuable to them than Fat Frank's.

 

If Stevie G finishes the season like he played up until the turn of the year, then he'll be in with a great shout.

Stevie has been the most consistent player in the premiership this season from the start and deserves to win it.

Stevie wasn't the best player at the club, i.m.o, so how could he be the best player in the league ? Carra and Finnan were better, more consistent players.

Terry is going through a very lean patch at the moment. He got done over for all 3 goals today, I remember him letting Delany (?) running straight round him when they played Villa a couple of weeks ago. Not on top of his game. Gerrard hasn't either to be honest, he's gone off the boil in the last month or so but still had a very good season so far.

 

van Nistelrooy has 18 goals in the league this season already, in with a shout for sure.

Finnan is our player of the year. Anything else is just fluff.

 

Other than Nicol, has a full back ever won it though? Just doesn't happen really, they end to go for those who pay in more eye-cathcing positions.

 

But Finnan has been excellent - again yesterday, no danger came down his side of the pitch.

Finnan has been imperious, but to be honest I can't think of anyone in the world who's been better than Gerrard over the last 6 months. It's a strange kind of irony that now he's playing so well he's not getting quite the same recognition as he was a year or two ago when we were a "one-man team"

 

I thought he was brilliant at the start of the season and again during our run but he's gone off the boil since mid to late December ( has had the odd excellent 45 minutes since then ). Didn't play well against the Mancs, didn't play well against Chelsea, didn't play well yesterday ( although on that pitch who'd blame him ? ).
