Guest chiael Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 The last couple of games have seen the team looking a bit tired. Just wondering if the early start to the season is taking it's toll on the team. I hope not. The passing game seem to be only in flashes and the movement a bit slow. Hopefully the return of Fowler will give the new spice.
cestrianred Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Where you there last night? If you were did you have a blindfold on? Some of the passing & interchange, zipping the ball about was as good as I've seen this season last night.

Some of the passing & interchange, zipping the ball about was as good as I've seen this season last night. Over two thirds of the pitch that could be argued. But in the final third we were poor. Our most impressive patch was just after they scored - bodies in the box, winning 2nd balls, tempo and urgency. I don't understand why we don't play at this intensity more. It's almost like some players are thinking we have to conserve energy for the next game when there's still a game to be won - yet the whole point about rotation is to have 11 players on the pitch at any one time who are giving 100% with fresh players coming in for the next game.
mercury Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Agreed. We had flashes of our passing game but most were off and was not helped by our trouble in keeping possession for sustained periods, especiallybin the 1st. This remains a major weaknesses In fact, over the last three or four games, I feel only Finnan, Kewell (keep improving) and perhaps Sami, played up to their usual level.
Owen1978 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Missed the match but watched the highlights, it was just one of those games of missed chances! when the stats appeared it said we had 65% of the possession!
Guest AnfieldGrass Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 (edited) Why can;t we play with that kind of intensity when we are looking to shut them out? Sould have won by 4 or 5 easily, bad luck mostly, some wasted chances. Edited February 2, 2006 by AnfieldGrass

Stevie H Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 said a few days ago that i am worried about the recent trend in our performances... tiredness kicking in a bit? we've played a f***ing lot of matches.
Guz Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 (edited) Every team has a slump in the season, we are no different. IMO, if we are still in 2 cup competitions by the end of February and havent lost too many games then I think it'll be a success. We will storm the end of the season IMO Edited February 2, 2006 by Guz
