I don?t have any impartial information that would lead me to a conclusion about what happened on that flight.

Well, obviously the film(s) will be told from a point of view that is the "accepted" one at the moment, but I think it's fair to say the hijackers weren't sending out blissful love signals to all when they took over the plane.

I too though have no impartial information on their oral hygiene.

thats the problem isn;t it -if the facts of the flight differ from the "acceptable version" then why not film it as such. otherwise I see little benefit from this effort apart from generating a 'feel good' factor for some people.

that I'm pleased to hear - but you can see that is how these people will be portrayed as it conforms to a stereotype that is acceptable to the general public - especially the american public.

What about the telephone calls from the flight? Essentially they are the only information as to what actually happened as any physical evidence was incinerated. Combine that with the accounts from the other flights that day, why is a fightback from the passengers so implausible if they knew for a fact that they were on a suicide flight? What would they have to lose? Would any of you think that fighhting back in a situation like that is a bad idea?

I'm glad to see you have your priorities right about the 9/11 11/9 debate. Very important...

But do the facts of the flight differ from the "passengers take back the plane and crash it" story? I've seen or heard nothing else to contradict that other than the conspiracy theory that the plane was shot down, which while plausible (and defensible?) has no evidence supporting it.

And I'm sorry, but what other portrayal of the Sept 11th hijackers is acceptable? I think the facts speak for themselves.

Anyway...'but what other portrayal of the Sept 11th hijackers is acceptable? I think the facts speak for themselves.' so cartoon villains it is then conforming to racial and cultural stereotypes as 'ragheads'. Be careful - you may end up as the new 4pool of orrthodoxy!

:o

That hurts man.

Of course if they were portrayed as smelly 'ragheads' that would be wrong - but is there any evidence that will be the case in this film? Greengrass is an excellent director, just watch his treatment of Bloody Sunday to see he won't toe 'the party line' if there is one. What they should be portrayed as are crazed, delusional murderers, nothing more, nothing less. And if that makes me 4pool for saying it, so be it!

I've seen a reenactment on TV here already. It was very well done. Interviewed family members and then had the recreation.

The hijackers were portrayed as they were in real life. The one who piloted the plane in particular was shown as being a very westernised character. They weren't shown as just abunch of smelly zealots. To do so would be completely inaccurate -- look at the closed circuit pictures of them at the airports.

I can't come to grips with the plane being shot down. I think that procedurally it would have been impossible to do, not forgetting that this plane was one of many that were still in the air at the time. It was chaos that day.

All the evidence would point to the fact that they were trying to do something on that plain. Logic would tell us that they were too. They had nothing to lose.
