aka Dus Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I dunno, bit confused (and saw the article in a media stories review, so I didn't buy the piece of 5hite paper) but the Mail on Sunday are running a story on page 6 that "ITV is understood to be finally selling its stakes in Arsenal and Liverpool football clubs." Anyone read this? For some reason I thought ITV had already sold that stake... no?
Mono Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 I thought that it was Granada that had a 10% stake... There was talk of them selling it previously and Morgan buying the share in order to get on the board but he couldn't guarantee getting a seat even with a 14%-15% share
Falconhoof Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Its Granada media who own 10%of LFC, not ITV. If it was happening then I doubt the news would break first on page 6 of the Mail on Sunday, but the sale itself wouldn't surprise me.

Herbie von Smalls Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 granada tv merged with carlton to become itv plc.
fyds Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 They own 9.75% of the club and are major partners in .tv but without a controlling interest which the club retains. If ITV were to put a big bid in for one of the new Premiership packages as ordered by the EU, they would have to remove all points of conflicting interest first.

Surely this would apply to ManU and Sky?Don't they own a percentage of them? Or at least I think they did.
downunder Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Not sure what % of .tv they own but they have complete rights to sell our merchandise (not Reebok) on - line. Therefore you won't see our official gear on-line except on the official site. I am looking to work with them to help Australians get stuff here cheaper, but I am still in discussions with the club.

Rushian Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 (edited) Sold it to the Glazers Sold them well before that I think. They also held shares in a couple of other clubs at one stage, Leeds being one. They still part own MUTV and Chelsea TV. Edited January 9, 2006 by Rushian
aka Dus Posted January 9, 2006 Author Posted January 9, 2006 All the same, whoever buys it might give clear hints if anyone is seriously interested in the club. Anyone looking for a majority stake will have to deal with Moores obviously but it might still be relevant. Their stake in .tv should go to someone with a global market reach.
