Psg fans seem happy he's going. Says enough really.

How long before she's saying he's as good as Gordon Cowans and should be paid accordingly?

we're not getting a fee for him? that's really poor. But we messed up last summer. villa should have been obliged to buy him straight out.

We messed up not bringing him back from the loan for the sake of saving a couple of million.

We will regret the Mbaye move, if Villa wrap it up.

This move or the one when Villa sell him to Chelsea for £120m in a year?

why? we wouldnt have played him. at least villa were paying his wages, or some of them.

same reason we are loaning him now. we wont play him, so might as well have someone else pay some of his wages

I could never find out what was wrong with Cowans' nose. Even when the internet sprout forth. Was it just badly broken? The way it sort of spreads out at the side was mad.

Sending Elliott out on loan is moronic as well, we're short at 10 and RW, why are we getting rid of another body?

He needs games but he also looks bordering on unprofessionally unfit.

Mbaye was definitely in the opportunistic market. Like Munoz. I'm not mad we didn't pay what they were asking for him. Completely unproven and played five full 90s in his entire career at the top level. Would have got behind it obvs but whatever.

Always felt like Minteh was the one when we went in with the second bid. Been on our list for a while, I'd imagine.

Seems mad doesn't it. Someone that was good enough to play in a Jurgen Klopp lead winning side isn't deemed good enough to play for us now when we are nowhere near as good and desperately short on bodies.

I would absolutely be keeping him and using him off the bench and in the cups etc. He has shown he can contribute.

Why wouldnt we have played him? He made 28 appearances the seaon before and even though Slot didnt think he was first choice was he really less of a squad option than Chiesa?

It also meant that he missed most of the season without playing reducing his marketability as we've seen this season.

Harvey Elliott has agreed personal terms with Valencia following positive talks today. Negotiations underway with Liverpool to get the deal done on club side.

I liked the Fabinho signing. Early summer, fairly surprising target but talented player, exactly what was required.

We now seem to be about four players short with only a dozen players in the world to choose from.

🚨👀 Andoni Iraola on transfers:

“I hope we are close, in terms that we only have four or five days remaining in the market.”

“So we've been patient until now, and I think we have to be a little bit more patient, but it's true that there are a lot of things going on, and I hope we can announce things quickly, because this is an area that has been really our priority, especially since Mo left last season.”

“Everyone knows that we have a big hole to fill, and I think it has been the main focus, I would say, in this market, yes.”

(via @footballontnt)

“I think we’re working straight away and improving in terms of the market and the team, but everything is not going to be done straight away in this market.

“I am confident because I value the players I already have a lot. There are high-quality players that we can work with, and now it’s a matter of how we can use them in the best positions, in the spots where they can make the difference.

“I go to training every day and I see things that are very expansive, and now it’s a matter of how we can use those things effectively, so we can be a very good team.”

perhaps PSG are using Villa to smoke Liverpool out on the Mbaye transfer, meanwhile Liverpool are using Sarr to smoke out Brighton on Minteh, which was always a ruse to get Mbaye from PSG.

It's 3D chess - and Hughes is cosplaying Anatoly Karpov

The outcome of all this will of course be that Chelsea buy all 3 of them.

Part of me is excited, curious at least, to see how badly they botch this window for the new manager. 15 years experience of terrible transfer windows coming to a glorious, catastrophic head.

Predictions:

We sign Barcola
We sell Gakpo to fund Minteh.
Harvey leaves on a pointless loan with us paying most of his wages
Chiesa is trapped here forever

The Elliot loan is no obligation to buy apparently and his contract is up next summer.

If it's a season-long loan then there can't be an obligation to buy if his contract is up at the end of the season.

I'd really hope we could sign Minteh without selling Gakpo. But I doubt it.

I assume the rumours of rayan's release clause being 84m instead of 130m in January are nonsense, otherwise we'd probably be offering them a premium to try and get it done now. Or atleast noises about it.

Maybe it’s harvey asking for the obligation to buy 😄

Seriously depressing... Are you hearing anything like us swooping now for Mbaye now that we know his rate.. Like we did for Munoz?
