It's utterly illogical. The named driver (wife) and I have had 12 years of accident free driving. Ergo we are both safe drivers. Should benefit across both cars in the family.

 

 

Whose name is on the policy?

 

The company you are with may offer a second discount whereby they mirror the no claims discount that you have earned.

 

How long have you been driving to only just realise that you can't use NCD twice?

So how does the insurance company know how the miles are split, for all they know your wife does all the driving? My son has been on my wife's insurance for 4 years, he hasn't any NCD, he's 21 years old and he'll be 25 before he can even think of getting his own insurance. I can see the logic behind it though, harsh as it appears.
