I'm looking for self catering coastal cottages for next years holiday. I've a vague preference for Ceredigion but am looking for somewhere that's close enough to decent places to eat and walk, am happy driving so I don't need loads on the doorstep but a bit that means not having to drive far to get something to eat.

Also does it rain lots and if so when does it rain less?

F*ck off with that rain sh*t, we've had an absolutely glorious summer.

Come to Pembrokeshire, there's way more to see/do. Plus you can stay at ours, we're 5 minutes from the ferry port for Rosslare.

The beaches along the coast here are absolutely fantastic Vic.

If the move to Singapore doesn't come off then we will have to arrange to meet up either up this way or down in Pembrokeshire

We camped on this beach for 3 weeks last summer http://www.discoverceredigion.co.uk/English/where/Coast/beaches/Pages/Tresaith.aspx

That site has loads of other beaches Penbryn is stunning.

The kids have to get into a local school as I can't afford international schools and it is not part of the package. We have just had confirmation they have been accepted to sit the exams so will be flying out there for a week at the end of Sept. Then it all depends on them (no pressure there)

Will DM you about the reasons for the move.

If you want West Wales, I'd set up shop in Solva. It's a great little town. Beaches close by would be Barafundle (sp?) and White Sands. There's fishing charters etc that you can do and if you have little kids, they'll love the crab fishing at the jetty.

The Gower isn't really West Wales but it is gorgeous. Port Eynon, Langland and Caswell are all lovely beaches there. The Mumbles may be my favourite place in the world to be on a sunny day.
