Royal Mail share offer/scandal

Looks like they may have made the best of a sh*t job with the share allocations.

Everyone who applied for £10k worth or less ... got £750 worth

Everyone who applied for more than £10k ... got f*ck all

Apart from institutions and hedge funds of course ... it'll be interesting to see how they have been treated!

It's appalling.

Let Royal Mail run at a loss (and rack up tax credits for years to come) on the taxpayers account ... use those credits to ensure that it's a great investment for institutions and hedge funds.

"Daylight robbery" is the old-fashioned term that springs to mind.

Disgraceful.

How many have you applied for?

getting 750 quids worth seems a waste of time for a quick return after costs to sell, better than a bank return but still not much to shout about, and not exactly going to bring much in long term.

Your £750 would now be worth over £1,000.

Over 30% overnight. Costs to sell ... about a tenner.

Better than a bank return?? Yeah, just a bit.

The whole thing is a disgrace. The profits being raised for the government isn't large enough to justify their dogma of selling off everything in sight. Royal Mail has also been turning a profit, so another reason to hang on to a service that's been in public hands for 350 years.

I thought it was just the parcel side that was in profit?

still not worth getting out of bed for

on the other hand, 20 applications in the names of 20 different trusted family and friends = luxury cruise

how could that be?

nearly thirty years ago iirc the BT share issue was about three quid a share, not much less than these.

BT floated at 130p - but it's irrelevant, you can't just compare share prices like that to come up with a company's value.

£270 for 10 minutes filling in a form? As you say, not (legally) scalable.
