Getting leave at work

My mate is getting married in sicily this september, just arranged the last week or so. I managed to find flights for me an my missus, managed to organise someone to look after the kids for 3 days, only to find out i cant get time off from work, as there are already some people off that week. Ffs its not like i work in a small company. Damn
