Grabiner did you get to watch the Birmingham game anywhere in Venice? I am gonna be there for the fulham game a week on monday and wondered if you (or anyone else) knew of a place.

Cheers

PS any tips on where to eat, things to see would be appreciated, thanks.

No chance with the footy mate.......unless your hotel has it on in your rooms. Doubtful.

In terms of places to go the big sights are pretty impressive e.g. St Marks Cathedral and the Palace next to it. The Guggenheim was worth a visit too. We popped over to Lido for an afternoon to get away from the crowds for a bit. It's pretty chilled out with a beach.

Defo get a boat up the Grand Canal (water bus).

Food I wasn't that impressed with so I can't really recommend I'm afraid. Pizzas are good though!

It is f***ing expensive. Be prepared to spend some dosh. Great place though.

This probably needs to go in the gennie.

Try this place mate, on the Grand Canal. They always have our games on.

Went to Venice in February and had a nice meal at Osteria San Marco, www.osteriasanmarco.it . Just off St Mark's Square, so not cheap but nice atmosphere, good food and a great wine list. Might be best to make a reservation. As Grabiner says the pizzas are great, we had a few from the take away shops during the day.

We spent most of our time in a couple of Osterias, which are fairly relaxed and you can just have a drink or a snack. Osteria San Marco is more of a restaurant though.
