Barcelona's efforts to become the first team to retain the Champions League trophy

 

Quite a few teams have done this. If they are saying that its a new comp since 1992, then we wouldn't have been able to keep the trophy in 2005!

Hi ***** thanks for your email. The article is correct as Barcelona were attempting to retain the Champions League trophy ie win it for the second year on the trot. No team has succcessfully done this (and Barcelona failed too).

I am afraid you are wrong, the comp has been renamed, but its in essence the same, you can check with UEFA or your football team.

 

As I said, Liverpool won the CL in 2005 and kept the trophy as they had won it 5 times, the previous 4 were before 1992. If it was a new competition they wouldn't have been able to claim 5 wins.

Didn't we retain it in 1978? If not, then Utd are nowhere near our 18 etc, it could go on. The comp was renamed but still the same as it has always been.
