I call upon these guitarists here present

I treated meself to a Gretsch couple of months back and I am now thinking I would like an effects pedal or two to go along with it, nowt spectacular, just something I can mess around with a make different kinds of sounds.... trouble is having been a player of acoustics for night on 20 years, I have no idea what's good.... what should I be going for?
