Novels as yet un-adapted

Was watching In The Mood For Love over the weekend when it hit me how Paul Auster like the plot is. So a conversation ensued with Ms Harrington about other novels that haven't been adapted and who would ideally direct. Don't really approve of adaptations (too many fail to use the source material as a jumping off point because they just love it and end up with some shrine to the book that can never quite work) but I'd be intrigued to see the following have a go:

The Book Of Illusions (Paul Auster) – Wong Kar-Wai

What A Carve Up! (Jonathan Coe) – Michael Winterbottom

The Cold Dead Six Thousand (James Ellroy) – Quentin Tarantino

Aberystwyth Mon Amore (Malcolm Pryce) – Edgar Wright

The Book Of Dave (Will Self) – Peter Weir

Paradise (AL Kennedy) – Michael Haneke
