Dodgy, dodgy refereeing there. Blew up for a free out as the Portsmouth striker was just about to pull the trigger; ball goes in the net; place goes mental, huge celebrations; referee goes, "Oh s***," lets the goal stand, and pretends all is well.

Some top notch defending from Sunderland there :D

Duckface Part 2 strikes!

I'm sure the fould on Portsmouth's first was on the scorer. So why not let it stand? I guess he should waved it on.

And where's the harm in that decision. Hardly unfair is it?

If that's what happened, then he had already blown for the penno and presumably it would have been a sending off as well; that's totally different to just awarding a goal. It looked to me like he was definitely blowing for a free out, though.

How pathetic are Setanta, they think they are onto something controversial to ramp up.

Interviewer: Will you be asking Alan Wiley about blowing up early

Sbragia: No, I've too many other important things to be focused on

Very good and honest response by him.....I'm sure the best Manager in the known history of the Universe would have been as honourable!!

If he does blow the whistle and the defending team or goalkeeper relaxes to let them score the goal then there's harm in giving it. You should play to the whistle but can't really fault players for not playing beyond the whistle. Sunderland players didn't protest that much so maybe that wasn't the case there. I think there's no way he would have let it stand if he was going to give a free kick to Sunderland.
