If Sami Leaves

if Sami leaves in the Summer when his contract is up who are the likely candidates to step up? He's been linked with Wolves etc...

 

With Agger signing a new contract we have Jamie, Skrtel and Agger as our 3 first choice centre backs. One other position must be up for grabs - is there anyone in the reserves capable of making the grade? I dont think a purchase for 5 or 6 million is needed but would like to know what people think of the reserves defenders abilities and the likelihood of someone from the ressies taking the spot of 4th CB....

 

If Sami does stay this only defers the question of who steps up to challenge for a CB position...

Wasnt San Jose regarded as one who could make the grade? or Kelly? one of those 2 should take the 4th spot then....

Huth got rave reviews at the under 20 championships earlier in the year but is he way too young to become part of the squad

Well, from the few matches I've seen from telly, I'd say that San Jose is the closest one we have right now in club. Not sure that he is still ready though, but he looks somehow like a younger version of Agger with his passes. But can't say that I'm 100% sure that any of the kids can play in PL yet, then again none of them have had a chance either so probably Rafa is the only one who actually knows if they are ready or not.

From what i've seen of Huth he isn't very good.

San Jose looks decent, as does Kelly. But to be honest i don't think any of our young CB's are good enough yet to even fill in.

We'd need another. Preferably one of about 23/24 who could be seen as a long term Carra replacement.

I would like san jose to have a full season on loan to a strong championship team or a spanish team next season

San Jose could be back up I think. I wouldn't be surprised to see him loaned out for a year and someone else brought in though.
