New tv..

The sound and vision quality is progressively getting worse on our old box so it's probably time to get a new one.

just thinking about it: I've never bought a new tv before

 

so snooping thro what's on offer in ebuyer and amazon and there are some good deals to be had! However my question pertains to brands - while I am more inclined to go with a well known brand - i.e. Sony, it seems there are a lot to choose from..

 

so how are LG tvs? or Sanyo? or Hitachi? etc...there are some I've never heard of = Sense, Vistron..

 

are these any good? anyone have any experience of such tellys?

 

And as for built-in freeview/dvds - do they become problematic as time passes? what's the quality of the DVD player like? (if you happen to know?)

 

AND last but not least - am I more likely to pick up a bargain in the January sales or is an online store the way to go..
