being only recently re-integrated into a 9 to 5 existence, i've avoided colin huntesque humour at work for a long time.

at a colleague's leaving do yesterday however, one department went to town on the departing staff member, with an imaginative prank. they tinfoiled absolutely everything at their workstation, from the mouse, to the casters on their chair, to a half-drunk cuppa, to a tampon, keys, glasses, sheets of paper, etc. took 45 minutes to unwrap the lot. it looked truly surreal.

you'd had to have been there, no doubt, to appreciate the lengths they went to for the prank and the reactions of everyone else in the office.

anyhow, from that, talk led to other pranks at work. a former editor was really quietly-spoken and to keep him going everyone upstairs used to bang drums, blow whistles and sound toy trumpets from the moment he entered the front door until he got halfway up the stairs. by the time he got into the office the instruments would be stashed away and the room would be silent, with everyone working dilligently as he entered.

made me titter anyway.

anyone got any similar/better examples of puerile office humour that actually worked?
