USB Mobile Broadband

I am looking at getting a usb mobile broadband receiver for a laptop from one of the mobile phone/network providers.

Anybody use these and if so and recommendations?

 

It seems you can get either 3gb or 5gb worth of downloads a month - is this a lot? Will it be enough if I am away from home during the week, using it quite a lot?
