30 months ago Rafa masterminded a European Cup triumph where we beat at least 4 teams technically superior to us with his tactics.

6 months ago we played an outstanding AC Milan side and matched them on the pitch and were unlucky to be defeated. To get to that final we outplayed Chelsea and Barcelona. We were the second best side in Europe last season.

But, hey it's November and we aren't playing well, get rid of the boss.

the counter argument to that might be we have had over 3 yeras with Rafa, and we have progressed not one iota in the league from where we were under Houllier or Evans.

Not a pop at you but I'm seeing this line trotted out time and time again on LFC fora recently and I wonder where the f*** it's coming from? Isn't it a fact that this is our best start under Rafa to date, both in terms of points scored and closeness to top of the table?

Fair enough our performances have been less than stellar (too put it mildly) but frankly I don't give a monkey's if we're top in May and the one undisputed fact about Rafa's teams is that they finish stronger than anyone else.

Thus I'd say that the signs are actually good, based on facts alone and that some of the more outrageous criticism of Rafa at this stage seems extremely bizarre.

That incorrect, we are better than under Evans as his side was 4th in a 2 horse race and under Houllier, before his illness, there was no problem as we were heading in the right direction scoring 80pts in a league season.

We have not closed the gap to Utd and Chelsea and Arsenal have in the same period is the only crime I can accuse Rafa of.

The one thing Rafa always had was the impressive performances in Europe. This season he doenst have that escape clause so all the critics and other such journo's are getting on his case along with a percentage of Liverpool fans.

Given the start we made, with Torres looking good, defensively very tight and the best midfield in in the world, i think people were expecting us to have the league won by Christmas. I have to admit, i got a little carried away with the start too, but injuries have no doubt set us back and our league and european form has been s*** as result combined with a handful of tactical decisions Rafa got wrong. Also consider that Rafa lost his number two and the majority of players are out of form yet we are six points off the top, with Pompey, the bluenoses and blackburn away all under our belts. We cant let that gap widen much further though, otherwise we could again, be looking at a big difference to the top at Christmas and the possibility of no CL to brighten things up.

In saying that, I do think we will qualify from the CL starting with a win tomorrow night.

and to be fair chelsea have be building the team since the days of ranieri two years prior to the arrival of rafa and arsenals have been building this current crop quietly behind the scenes for several years now too.

rafa came to a club in decline. our academy and youth system hasnt produced anything for several generations. there was complete unrest in the changing room, his #1 striker was refusing to sign and running down his contract so he could walk for free and his captain was looking like he was thinking of jumping ship as well. then we should maybe mention the random chaff the rest of our squad was littered with.

cue three years on and we've retained our captain, brought in fresh blood, stabilised the team, got new investment, and have started the season really well points-wise even with some of our most influential players out. of course we're going to struggle missing a first choice central defender, midfield general and striker (give me strenght) but when they come back in the next few weeks we're not going to be making up ground from the bottom of the league as usual and thats entirely due to rafa.

2 wins from 7 including the Cardiff result, playing some terrible football but yet if we win our game in hand we will be 3 points behind the champions and favourites to win the league...

For all the plaudits Arsenal are getting and all the discontent from our fans we are only 1 set of results away from being right behind them(win for us,defeat for them). We are not playing well, you can call it luck but we're not losing ground on the leaders.

We've got key players coming back from injury, We're unbeaten and we have money available to spend in January..Its easy to get downhearted but this could still turn out to be a glorious season for us.

Did Obscene W***** or Slur Alex do anything in their first three seasons?

If by Obscene W***** you mean Wenger, then the answer is yes.

I blame all of thisdownhearted-ness on the crazy maths people have been doing estimating the number of games we can afford to lose/draw this season, based on previous years' finishing points. Some people have actually calculated that we are now out of the race. It's fookin madness.

It doesn't help rational arguments when people post utter s**** as a defence. Wenger won the league HTH.

P.S. Why the need to change his name to Obscene. He's called ARSEne, it's hardly a leap of faith to a****** is it ?
