Ticket 'Booking Fee'

i normally buy tickets online and assumed that a 'booking fee' was the way that agents, such as Ticketmaster, took a small fee for letting me book through their site and saving me the hassle of standing in a queue somewhere..

 

this morning i went to buy tickets for the Hard Fi gig in Aintree Pavillion (part of Liverpool Music Week) and i was again charge a booking fee.. can someone please tell me what this 'booking fee' is for? thanks.. :)
