I remember there being notice that when a player goes down injured, the players have to continue with play unless the ref deems the injury serious enough and blows the whistle.

 

However, a few times, I've noticed the players going off at the opposition for continuing to play when a player is down.

 

Is that just another case of the russians trying to change the rules to suit them?

it's up to the ref

 

UEFA (or FIFA) are now dictating that teams no longer kick the ball out to aid a stricken player & if they do, not to expect the ball back

the play continuing was a Premier League initiative, hence why the issue when English sides did this in europe... not sure if this differential still exists

yeah, it was never a UEFA/FIFA directive, the Premier League just decided it would be better to improve the flow of the game.
