Sheida V Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Mascherano was excellent for Argentina and was running like mad and tackling hard, especially toward the end of the game. In fact he was on the end of a bad tackle from Grella with only a few minutes to go that could have injured in badly. I also remembered we were linked with Gutierrez and I thought he was pretty good as well. He was strong on the ball against the physical Australians.
Leo No.8 Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 (edited) I'm not surprised about the bad tackle. What is is about Australian footballers - with the likes of Muscat, Neill etc they seem to cultivate players who seem to have strong ties with their wayward descendants. It's ironic - basically we sent convicts over there on the prison ships for their crimes, then many years later they send convicts back to England to play club football here and instead earn a fortune for assaulting people... Eiler99 Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Was Gutierrez the lad with the Spiderman mask?

Lucas Neill's dad is from Belfast and Muscat was born in England, you sap. And who are "their wayward descendants"?? Juvenile delinquents? And why would they not have ties with their descendants? Juvenile delinquents? My, my we are touchy today - it wasn't exactly a serious post, I was merely making light of the fact that Australia seem to have more than their share of unpleasant footballers playing for them and the country was founded as a prison colony. It's a fairly common theme within English - Australian banter often seen on this forum, and not one to generally cause offence or induce name calling as it seems to have with you. Quite honestly I haven't got a clue where Lucas Neill's Mum, Dad or great Uncle Vincent come from nor do I give a f*ck, he plays for Australia which was the point. Sorry to have offended your sensitivities; next time I'll put a note on stating 'aspects of this post may have factual innacuracies, and the lineage of characters described may be incorrect' just in case you feel the need to start rolling your little eyes and stamping your little feet whilst telling me off again. Leo No.8 Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 That's more like it. Is there likely to be any legal action?
Coyler Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Is there likely to be any legal action? You (and Stevie H) are to be sent to Tasmania to learn the difference between a descendant and an ancestor.
Tones Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Lucas Neill's dad is from Belfast Ah. That explains that then!
Red Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 (edited) Mash' had a good game and I'm pleased to say was up and sprinting around shortly after that tackle. Insua looked good too.Messi was freakin' awesome. Just about everytime the ball came to him he either looked like he was gonna' create a goal or score himself. Finally, I admit I was one of those who really wanted Tevez to come here, but since he's now a Manc, I'm happy to say he played Sh*te. Edited September 12, 2007 by Red

Doesn't he realise that international football can f*** off, and it's all about Liverpool?
Sheida V Posted September 12, 2007 Author Posted September 12, 2007 Yes, it's the same Gutierrez. I think we should get him just for the celebration The Insua that played isn't our Insua, though.

Guest stigb Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 (edited) A friend of mine was arriving in Australia and going through the normal immigration routines when the Customs officer checking his passport asked him "Do have a criminal record?" My friend replied "No, I didn't realize you had to have one....." ...and the guy got really mad!!! Yes, They are quite touchy on this subject down there.. Edited September 13, 2007 by stigb

How did Frederico Insua play, he came on as a second half sub when Argentina played Norway a couple of weeks back and he impressed me, had not seen him before.

In fairness Leo I can see you're taking the Mick but referring to Oz as a prison colony is hardly accurate. Guys were sent out there for stealing bread to feed their own families................ hardly a crime. It was just a political excuse to populate and lay claim to a vast continent. The ozzies sure can be nasty little fookers (or big fookers) on a sports field but ya gotta admire their will to win
