(but it is)

I'm working with formulas of the type

=DCOUNT($A$1:$K$388;$A$1;A398:B399)

=DSUM($A$1:$K$388;$K$1;A398:B399)

where the first parameter $A$1:$K$388 defines a 'database' (i.e. a set of rows with headings)

The problem is that the number of rows varies - it's not always 388 and could, in theory, be anything. What I'd like to do is somehow put the value 388 (or whaveter it is) in a cell and have the formula determine the range from the value in that cell.

Can that be done?
