Many, many years ago, when my first "proper" relationship with a girlfriend broke up, I was really devastated. Heartbroken I was. Anyway, as you do, I picked myself up, dusted myself off and got back into life again. I always had a soft spot for this girl but only recently, something happened that I found difficult to reconcile for quite a while.

We actually got back in touch, through Friends Reunited of all things, and caught up on old times. We're both happily married now and both have two boys. We had quite a few e-mailed conversations but always resisted the urge to meet up. Anyway, she told me, quite in passing, that her next boyfriend after me was a famous ex-player of ours! I mean a REALLY famous one as well. I will not be giving his name or any details, that is irrelevant and will not be doing so by elimination (no, it's not him etc). They met abroad while Liverpool were on tour and her more glam mate got off with another REALLY famous ex player of ours so this player, free and single, so no probs there, and she got together and went out for a while I think I've come to terms with it now but when I first found out, I'd curse when I saw pictures of him or heard his voice or saw his face! Mad or what?

How would you take something like that? We went out for two years and both thought it was the big one (well, she did when she saw it!) Still, makes you think, dunnit?
