Just Back from the Match

Went to the Dublin-Meath game this afternoon. It was without doubt the best GAA game played this season and as good a sporting event as I've been to in the last few years. Dublin will always be a team doomed to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory but unusually, when they could have folded in the last few minutes, they kept going to secure the draw. Graham Geraghty is the filthiest, most talented player I've seen play. He could/should have been sent off three times for punching Dublin players but he also managed to drag Meath back into the match when his team-mates went walk about in the first half.

 

I went for a meal with a bunch of friends afterwards. Of the 8 of us, 3 were from Dublin, 2 from Meath, 2 from Cork and one from Canada. The piss-taking and good natured slagging reminded me just why I like the GAA so much.
