What a week I`ve had!

Recommended Posts

Monday:

In to work to face four massive, double orders from the suppliers, humping all the crates of beer and wines into the store room, going through two shirts with the sweat with the regional manager in and saying he was sweating just looking at me work, doing the weekly books before HQ pick-up, setting up more orders, showing the new store manager the ropes, getting the kids home, fed, bathed and bed then finally collapsing into my own bed after a short soak.

Tuesday:

Staff appraisal. Down to HQ to have my three month appraisal; finally; after eight months, with the old regional manager and the new one taking notes, being told I was lazy!!! I asked the new regional was it laziness he witnessed the day before, basically being hauled over the coals for the drop in standards in our store, telling me I was neglectful of my duties even though I`d not missed a single day or ever been late, having all mitigating circumstances being ignored and all my points being shat on from a great height. At this point I realised I was being pushed out, so before reconvening, I gathered my work shirts/fleece and my pre-prepared letter of resignation (felt this was coming as the old regional manager just didn`t like me) and told them to stick their job! I stood up for my rights as a worker on May Day.

Went straight to a few job agencies and got an interview with Capita/BBC for the next day.

Big plus was I didn`t have to work and got to watch the whole of the match against the Chavs, no fingernails left!

Wednesday:

Left my daughter off to school, went home, had a shave, got suited up and off to the interview. Really easy-going one, lasted half an hour and was asked if I was interested in starting induction straight away. Why not, says I. Job involves working for Auntie Beeb in a contact role for a new venture they are trialling which they hope to take nationwide later in the year, along with info calls and e-mails. Easy-peasy. Mrs. Matter obviously delighted, so-much-so, she gets me a nice bottle of wine as a "Well done you" pressie.

Its like the 50`s all over, walk out of one job and straight into another.

And the scum get stuffed! What a day!

Thursday:

Find out the trainer for the next week and a half is a bit of a looker and that one of the even newer starts today is a stunner called Helene from France, with the sexiest of accents; things really are looking up! Especially when I pop out for lunch in the great weather and all the scantilly clad, fairer sex are gratifying my wandering eye.

The other eye is fixed on the footie headlines from the previous night.

Friday:

More appreciation of the trainer (M T being her moniker) and Helene, the work getting piss-easier by the day, finding out from one of my ex-colleagues that her staff appraisal was put back by the new regional manager as he told the old regional he wanted to see how things were after he was there for at least a month, gave out two 40 hour contracts for the store and changed the rotas on a permanent basis so that there would always be sufficient numbers of staff to cope with the workload!

Funny that?!

Got the family home, set up the new oil-drum bbq, had a meat-feast and now tucking into some delicious Guinness Extra Stout (the fizzy, old-guy stuff, not that draught crap) and looking forward to Armando Iannucci and Bill Bailey on Have I got News For You; which isn`t on til after midnight here cos the BBCNI schedulers insist on funding and airing parochial rubbish which is about as funny as a fire in an orphange!

So, anyway, that was my week. Haven`t went on and on for a long time and hardly had the chance to get on all week, so I`m making up for it.

Tomorrow`s Saturday, come on City!
