when musicians define themselves/their work

i love this. listening to or reading musicians try and establish their own place in rock history by telling us how they care so much/don't really give a f*** about how they work. as if they are the glue that holds humanity together.

here are a few quotes i found from some of this year's brits nominees:

"Some rock is big and dumb, I think ours is big and intelligent." Singer Gary Lightbody (snore patrol)

I think yours is dull and pompous, gary

"We're like punks with morals. We're the kind of people who would trash a hotel room and clean it up afterward." Singer Like Pritchard (the kooks)

you're more like students who think punk is all about having the coolest posters.

well, if your efforts at the 'abbey road' suite at the hall of fame awards are anything to go by, you're a long way off even getting started, never mind getting going.

ah, the old 'i don't take myself too seriously' routine. and i bet you hate all the attention and just want to do what you have to do in the studio and you live for playing live, right?
