Personally I am over the moon about the investment. I have been to Dubai a couple of times and its a place owned by people who like to be associated with class and style. They want only the best and are prepared to do things properly with care for the environment & history of the project / development. I'm sure we all know about the amazing building projects going on over there at the moment and the "most expensive square kilometre of real estate on the earth" which they are building in downtown Dubai. Lets face is when It comes to out spending each other, few rich people outshine this lot. Maybe they will build one of those sail shaped hotels in Corby :)

Sure I like anyone else do not like the way football is going, triggered by money mad man united during the plc years the games finances have gone haywire, hard to imagine only 15 years ago some of the games top players were earning a paltry couple of grand a week. But times have changed and we have to change with the times.

Anyway back to the topic of this thread. The only thing that's bugging me at the moment is the derogatory manner in which some of our own supposed fans are openly referring to our current players as second rate, I've been trawling sites reading supposed liverpool fans saying things like. "If we had the money we would not have to buy second rate players like Bellamy and Pennant" - Short f?ckin' memory there mate, the just scored 2 crackers at the week end! Also some gig stating "Sissoko is great, but I wish we had the money for the likes of Essien" - nice one mate, the doors over there.

And that's about it from me, if your for or against the DIC take over, Make your point without slating your own players. Personally when we play big teams I look at the to team sheet man for man and don't see Liverpool's starting 11 as inferior to anyone.

But yes I know its now a big squad game....

I understand what you are saying and it is disrespectfull to the current staff to call them second rate.

But there are one or two players in the squad who are considered to be Raffas second choice as his original targets were too expensive. And theres nothing wrong with being second choice, but it's time for those players who are regarded second rate to step up and prove we are wrong. Should that fail then we might be able to replace them with a better standard of player.

That should not stop the fans supporting the team which is on the field at the time, but in the pub and on these forums well it's always been like that.

There's plenty of second choice transfers who do very well, some notables being Drogba, Essien, Agger

Exactly what I said.

Nothing wrong with being second choice, but then you have to demonstrate that you shouldn't have been in the first place.

Why are you replying to your own comment?

I can remember a thread on here in the summer where most people expressed a similar opinion.

Whilst I know who I'd have now, if Rafa had £30m and could have bought Essien rather than Momo, do you think he would?

No. He would have bought Momo and then spent the rest of the money on Alves and Torres.

One of the books (Ballague or the biography) said Momo and Essien were the replacements being looked at if Gerrard went (1st time obviously).

Essien is basically a thug and I've never seen him pass the ball more than 5 yards sideways. Christ knows why anyone rates him

Essien is a c***-dispensing device. If he didn't have total c**** around him (like at chelsea) he wouldn't survive. I doubt Rafa rates him, definitely not at the price the chavs paid.
